Monday, July 26th

Today was Fancy Schmancy Hotel Day.

We started by checking out of the Omni and getting our car back. We wanted to drive somewhere but we weren't sure where. I found a town on the map called Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. I liked the name, so we drove there. We ate lunch at Mike's, which is Canada's version of TGI Friday's or Applebee's. The waitresses were very French since we were outside of the city, but since it's a national chain, they did have English menus. On the drive back to Montreal, we saw an overturned truck on a neighboring bridge which was kinda spooky. Also, we stopped at a Walmart to pick up some snacks and personal items. It's good to know you can find familiar places like Walmart so far from home.

As part of our vacation, we wanted to spend one night at a really fancy hotel. So we spent one night at Fairmont the Queen Elizabeth. We had a suite with a living room and a bedroom. Mom and Beth took the bedroom and I took the living room. We played more Hi Lo Jack and watched a movie on pay-per-view.

After the movie, we called for room service. If we're going to blow large sums of money at a ritzy hotel, we might as well go all out. We had pepperoni pizza and each got a dessert. Mine was black forest cake and it was delixious.
