Temple University's 2004 Sport
Administration 501 Corporation
Annual 501 Banquet and Barry Kratz Award
On Sunday, December 12, the Temple 501 Corporation held its annual end of semester banquet at Maggiono’s Little Italy in Center City. It was a wonderful evening, from food and drinks to fellowship and camaraderie. The smorgasbord menu consisted of: bruschetta crostini style, mozzarella marinara, an assortment of breads, Caesar salad, Italian salad, gnocchi with tomato vodka sauce, rigatoni digregorio, chicken parmesan, salmon with lemon and herbs, apple crostada, profiteroles, coffee and tea. This was an unending family-style meal fit for the future sports industry leaders, who work so hard, their appetite is bigger than the athletes on the field!
501 Corporation President, Megan Jackson, warmly welcomed everyone, followed by Walt Holliday with the invocation. Shortly thereafter Dr. Michael Jackson recounted the story of the beloved former 501er, the late Barry Kratz, before presenting the Barry Kratz “Shining Stars Awards” (not the traditional MVP award). Mr. Kratz’s sister and nephew were also in attendance and gave a few encouraging words of wisdom to the 2004 class.
The evening was a warm night cap to a long, rewarding semester, and one to remember thanks to the hard work of Social Committee chair, Chris Hopkins. He ensured an atmosphere filled with tasty food and good friends.
The Purpose of 501:
The 501 Corporation was devised to give students, intent on becoming involved professionally with the
