DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS

Rollins College invites applications for the position of Director of Athletics and Chair of the Department of Physical Education and Athletics. The successful candidate will have an understanding of and commitment to the role of physical education and intercollegiate athletics at a liberal arts college. The Director will provide vision and leadership for a team of highly qualified and principled faculty, coaches, administrators and staff who are committed to both academic and athletic excellence. This is a full-time 12-month position with responsibility for oversight of budgets, curriculum, facilities, personnel, program promotion, and fundraising. The Director reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and is a member of the President's senior administrative group. Anticipated starting date is June 1, 2005.

Requirements include an earned doctorate in physical education, recreation, sports management, administration, or a related field from! an accredited institution of higher education; a minimum of five years of documented success in administering physical education and intercollegiate athletic programs; an understanding of and commitment to compliance with NCAA and affiliated conference rules. Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience.

Rollins College is a member of NCAA Division II and the Sunshine State Conference. Men's teams compete in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, rowing, sailing, soccer, swimming, tennis and waterskiing. Women's teams compete in basketball, cheerleading, cross country, golf, rowing, sailing, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, volleyball and waterskiing. Rollins has a successful intramural program and offers instruction in health and wellness as part of its physical education curriculum. Athletic facilities include a new sports complex (2000), tennis courts and stadium (2002), softball complex (2004), expanded soccer field and new stadium (2004), baseball f! ield and stadium, 25-meter swimming pool, and boat houses.
