Gen. Josiah Gorgas Chapter of the MOSB

Although a Pennsylvanian, West Point graduate Josiah Gorgas and his family followed Alabama into the Confederacy where he used his training and skills to build an extraordinary system of acquisition, manufacture, and distribution of arms and ammunition. Largely thanks to Gen. Gorgas, Confederate troops never lacked weapons even though often short of everything else. After the War, he joined the new University of the South in Tennessee, and later became President of the University of Alabama.
