Echo me

Echoing into me

Until I can’t stop you from echoing again

Inside the caverns of my mind

Replaying the words you’ve left unsaid

I can still hear the stillness where your breath was fluttering

The way I thought you smiled

When you left behind a hole

Where something used to bleed

(my heart, you called it)

I think it leaves phantom pains behind to torment me

Electric shocks to set me free

I will rise beyond the trip wires you’ve left

And in the end a piece of both our hears will die

Explain to me why this was never real and

I’ll keep hearing your echoes in the hall

Where liberated my mind is now to wander

Echo back into me

So I can remember how to breathe

Echo
