Linda has often been mentioned on the Weekend
Update segment of the show.
Below is a screen shot from the 7 April 1979 broadcast of SNL....
Bill Murray:
California Governor Jerry Brown and singer Linda Ronstadt flew off
to Africa yesterday, traveling openly as a couple. Asked If he thought
such conduct could affect the 1980 nominations, Brown said, "No, the Grammy
Awards people don't care who she travels with." Meanwhile, word from
Liberia, where the couple landed, is that Brown may be mixing his business
with politics and pleasure. Meeting him at the Monrovia airport for what
seemed to be some kind of top secret get together were other Democratic
governors, including New York governor Hugh Carey, who was accompanied
by singer Debby Boone.
