The Spirit Intercedes For Us!

Maybe someone is praying for you today

My husband and I were missionaries in West Africa from January 1984 till September 1994. We were unaware of a special 7 year old’s prayers. Permit me to share an e-mail from her:

Dear Mr. Buck,

Greetings in the Lord! My name is Hillary Lambert. I am a 22 year old senior at Simpson College in Redding, California. The journey that brought me to write this email to you is an interesting one and I pray that you will be as blessed as I have been in finally finding you.

I grew up in Willows, a small farming community in Northern California, where my grandmother was the president of the LWML at First Lutheran Church. One Sunday (I was seven at the time), the women were handing out rocks with three crosses drawn on the front and a missonary’s name on the back. The congregation was instructed to pray for the missionary on the rock they were given. I was only a little girl, so they passed right by me without giving me a rock. After church, however, I asked my grandmother if I could have one. She allowed me to have it, but only if I understood that it was my responsibility to pray for the person who’s name was on the back.

The person’s name on the back of my rock was yours! I took my task very seriously and remembered to pray for you every night. I never stopped praying for you until I got into high school. I never really knew what to pray for, and I always wondered who you were, but the Lord did something amazing in my life through this process. He taught me HOW to pray. I knew He heard me, even though I was very small and immature in my walk with Him. Sometimes I wish my prayer life would be like it was when I was a seven year old girl who was confident that her prayers changed things...Since High School, the Father has reminded me off and on to continue praying for you. Lately, however, His calling has been very strong. He keeps reminding me to lift you up in prayer to Him.”

What a surprise for us never knowing of this young lady’s prayers! We were also much encouraged by her prayers and contact because in December of 2002, Roger had to have surgery to remove his prostate because of cancer. God knew we needed to be lifted up and Hillary was there! Maybe someone is praying for you today!
