Children and Youth Ministries
NURSERY (Room 110)
It is our desire to give your child the same special
love and care you give them at home. We strive to bring
your child Bible lessons that are alive to them,
opportunities to use fine and gross motor skills, and to
engage in imaginative play.
We provide care for children birth through 3 years of
age on Sunday mornings from 8:30 to noon, and birth
through 12 at other events. There is no charge for this
service, but if you use the nursery we ask that you
volunteer when possible.
GRACE LUTHERAN
SCHOOL

and KINDERGARTEN (ages 5-6) children. We serve 145
children with a staff of 7 teachers and 4 aides. Our
emphasis is on the total development of the child. The
child's social development and self-concept are of
primary importance.

children who turned 3 by September 1st of the previous
year through 6th grade. More than 250 children attend
with the help of over 100 awesome volunteers. We look
forward to seeing YOU at VBS in the summer!
GRACE CHILDREN'S CENTER
Grace Children's Center and Grace School Age Program

children are helped to grow, learn, and develop as God's
children, physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively
and spiritually.
We are licensed for 4 infants and 7 toddlers. Our hours
are 6 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday. You are welcome
to stop by and visit anytime!
CHILDREN'S LIBRARY
Children (and adults, too!) can borrow from an
outstanding collection of children's books and videos.
We have books on Christian parenting, and Christian
videos for all ages. During the summer months the
library also has a summer reading program.

experience, and a ministry that touches the performer
and the congregation!
VOCAL CHOIRS
Our mission is to teach children by example, the joy
music brings and the importance of music in God's
kingdom as we praise and worship Him through one of his

of our congregation purchase Christmas gifts for
children in our neighborhood who have a parent in
prison. Kids receive their gifts on behalf of their
incarcerated parent. Project Angel Tree is a ministry of
Prison Fellowship. We are one way to be the hands and
feet and voice of Christ.

Room for food donations. Sandy and Erna are board
members of the food bank.

helped by the KidReach tutoring program at Grace. These
students, who need help in reading, math, and study
skills are from the two elementary schools closest to
Grace. They are our neighbors!
FRIEND TO FRIEND
web.imajis.com/ftf
This much needed ministry matches volunteers to visit,
one on one, with lonely residents in local nursing
homes, who seldom or never have visitors. "Don't cast me
off in time of old age; forsake me not when my strength
fails me" Psalm 71:9 Picture a lonely person in a local
nursing home whose family may live in another city or
state. Perhaps you could visit such a person a couple of
times a month at your convenience.
World Ministries
WORLD HUNGER
Do you want to learn about the causes of hunger and
injustice from a Christian perspective? Do you want to
find out how you can fight hunger in the world? Do you
have questions about the ELCA World Hunger Appeal? If
you answered yes to any of these questions, then come
join us on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7 PM in the
Upper Room.
Our mission is to educate, inspire, and involve the
congregation in combating World Hunger and provide a
climate of encouragement for individual and collective
Christian action.
COMPUTERS for the
World with the Megabyte Missionary!
Dale has a ministry of rebuilding and supplying
computers both here at home, and in third world
countries. This year Dale and his wife, Jan, are going
to Tanzania where Dale will set up 77 computers. Fifty
computers will be in the Maasai Lutheran Secondary
School, with the remainder going to other Lutheran
schools in the area.
In 1999 we shipped 25 computers with Dale to a seminary
in Lubango, Angola. The program has been so successful,
they now offer a class to the community.
He has also supplied computers to Jamaica. Quite a few
have gone to the trade school, and to Jamaica Bible
College. There are also a few computers at the clinic we
support and at our sister church in Queensbury.
QUILTING
Join us as we work with Lutheran World Relief to
show love to our neighbors throughout the world by
making quilts (over 250 per year!). We meet the 2nd and
4th Thursday of the month (except for December and the
summer months) from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM in the Fellowship
Hall.
CARIBBEAN
COMMITTEE (Haiti & Jamaica)
We meet the 1st Thursday of the month at 7 PM.
JAMAICA
How do we qualify what has been done by God using us
as his tools? Counting cash, supplies or "people who go"
is easy. To follow the ripple effect from each of those
who have gone, from those who have been provided food,
better health or housing, to those whose lives have been
redirected to Christ is calculated ONLY by God. For us
the answer may be only in our prayers, imagination,
and/or dreams. Our first trip to Jamaica was 1992 and 15
trips have followed with more to come!
HAITI
We visit our sister church in Aux Coteaux every year
and sometimes visit other communities. Haiti is the
poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Average
annual income is $400. It is an incredible place.
Besides work trips and fellowship, we also sponsor
Haitian school children. It costs only $200 per year to
provide a child with tuition, two uniforms, a pair of
shoes, school books, and a medical check up.
Missionaries
In the winter of 1997 Gary and Marilyn McLaughlin
visited Haiti with a team. They were touched spiritually
and emotionally by what they saw and experienced. In
1998 they returned as team leaders of a group of 13.
They experienced the same feelings, and after much
prayer believe God is calling them to serve Him as
career missionaries in Haiti.
