JOHN SUMMERS, my
great-great-great-grandfather,
was born in Ohio in about 1810. He married a woman named,
Elizabeth Ann.
This "Ann" was born in about 1811 in Ohio. John and Ann moved to
Tippecanoe County, Indiana sometime after their marriage.
John and Ann had at least four children, born in the following
order:
Jane Summers, Barbara Ann Summers, Michael Summers and Silas
Summers,
according to the 1850 U. S. Census in Lauramie Township,
Tippecanoe County, Indiana.
Barbara Ann SUMMERS. my
great-great-grandmother,
was born 20 March 1841 in Ohio. On 05 March 1863 Barbara married
Benjamin Hopkins Routh in Tippecanoe County, Indiana.
Benjamin
and
Barbara Ann (SUMMERS) Routh had eight children: John Daniel
Routh,
Jesse Michael Routh, David Ira Routh, Simon Elias Routh,
Elizabeth Alice (Routh) Dobson, Francis Leroy Routh,
Nora Estella Routh and Orval Clifton Routh.
Three of these
children
(John, Francis and Nora) died in their youth.
Benjamin Hopkins
Routh
died on 05 August 1897.
Barbara Ann (SUMMERS) Routh then lived
in
Frankfort, in neighboring Clinton County, Indiana, for a while,
per
the 1913 Frankfort, Indiana city directory.
Barbara later had a
second marriage to a man whose surname was Grubb.
Barbara died
on
25 March 1915 in Indiana. She and Benjamin
are buried in Union Cemetery in Clarks Hill, Tippecanoe County,
Indiana.
Benjamin and Barbara's son, Simon Elias Routh, was my
great-grandfather.
