Born in 1970, it was obvious that when they made me, they broke the mold. Rumor has it that they beat the hell out of the moldmaker too! I was raised in Edgewater Park, NJ, which is located about halfway between Trenton, NJ and Philadelphia, PA. I went to Catholic School for 13 years (All Saints School in Burlington, NJ & Holy Cross High School in Delran, NJ), before finally setting off for the uncharted wilds of Maryland to attend Western Maryland College (Note: In 2002, in a moment of inspired foolishness, they decided to change the name of the College. I will *NOT* dignify this change by acknowledging it) in Westminster, MD. Since then, I have held several jobs, lived in Colorado Springs, CO, New Jersey (again), and have finally come to rest in Bethesda, MD. I currently am (under)employed as the Assistant Technical Director for Harmony Hall Regional Center. My resume can be found here.
OK, so now that the boring stuff is out of the way, let's talk about the remainder of my life...
Gaming: I am an avid (some say rabid) gamer. I have been for many years. I have my father to thank (blame?) for this, as he was the one who bought the blue-&-white box labeled "Dungeons & Dragons" for me for Christmas many years ago, and then was our first Dungeon Master. Even though I do not necessarily like all the rules, I still have a very warm spot in my heart for AD&D. I have since modified that which I do not like, and will, at some point, put that information up here on these pages. Besides RPG's, I enjoy board games, card games, war games...I think you get the point. Cheapass Games and Steve Jackson Games were kind enough to have me on board as a member of their demo teams, and so I get to spread the fun of their games at gaming stores & conventions.
Conventions: AKA Cons. The first I ever went to was GenCon '89. I had a blast. I don't get to GenCon anymore, but I do go to Origins now, mainly to do the lighting for the Origins Awards. Primarily, I either work or attend all Fantek & Barking Mad cons, doing security for the former, and running the game rooms for the latter. For those of you who have never attended the smaller conventions, I cannot encourage you enough to do so! For those who do attend, but who have never volunteered, I also encourage you to do so! It may not seem like it, but it's a whole lot o' fun helping ensure that others are having fun! At some point, I will post my essays on these subjects.
Theater: One of the driving loves of my life, I have been involved in theater in some form or another since 1984. I graduated college with a degree in theater, and work in theater to this day. I started on stage, but mediocre ability (at best) and a greater interest in backstage work pulled me behind the scenes.
Renaissance Faires & Things Medieval: Hearken back to days of yore when things were at once simpler and far more complex than they are today. I hold no illusions that times were somehow easier then. Somehow simpler, perhaps, but not easier. Nonetheless, there is no reason for all to enjoy themselves at the Faires, and I certainly do!
Professional Wrestling: Pageantry, Drama, Violence, Pathos! All the great hallmarks of theater! It's the closest thing I get to a soap opera, folks, and I enjoy it.
There! Are ya happy now? Now ya know somethin' about me.
