Throttle Body Coolant Bypass

Put this one in the ‘Free Mod’ category.  It is not the same (as effective) as a phenolic TB spacer but it does restrict or completely block hot engine coolant from circulating in the throttle body.  It may not be a suggested mod for those living in cold climates as it will take longer for the TB to warm up.

You will need a new TB gasket and a tube of RTV Blue Silicon.

Remove TB.  It helps to put the front wheels up on ramps to elevate the front of the engine and thereby cause less coolant loss when the TB is removed.

Be very careful handling the TB.  The MAF screen is VERY FRAGILE.

Once the TB is out of the car clean out the TB coolant channel with carb cleaner.

When the channel is clean and dry simple fill the channel with RTV Blue.  Smooth down any bumps or bubbles.  You want a smooth surface that does not protrude from the TB.  (fitment)

Let the RTV cure for about 24 hours.

Clean all mating surfaces and install TB.  Properly top off coolant level if needed.  Enjoy.
