Jane and Ellijay

Jane is a clinical psychologist in Redmond, WA. In 1992, as a result of a tragic auto accident, she became a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the neck down, with limited use of hands and arms. A few years later Jane applied to Canine Companions for an assistance dog. In May of 1999 she attended CCI's team training and received Ellijay. Jane says "Ellijay has transformed my life. She gave me a sense of pride and freedom. She's a dog with limitless composure, a Lauren Bacall type. Maybe some of that rubbed off on me. People focus on her beauty and vitality. In doing this I think they become less aware of how I remind them of the fragility of the human condition.
