Global Warming: What's Really Going On

So… Global Warming
There's a lot of hype surrounding global warming, and rightfully so. It's a major issue we're all feeling the effects of. However, some of us are feeling the effects more than other; the polar bears. As we continue to live our lives safely, the polar bears are suffering. Every day there is less and less ice in the Arctic regions they call home. It really is happening, and that's the plain and simple truth. A lot of people aren't sure how global warming works though. Hopefully this will help.

How It Works
Humans release carbon dioxide when they exhale. Trucks, cars, trains, planes, and factories all release carbon dioxide and other harmful gases into the air. Over time, these gases build up in the atmosphere and create a shell around the earth. This shell lets sunlight and its rays in, but doesn’t let them out. These rays increase the earth’s temperature, and the ice melts.

Bigger Than The Bears
Global warming affects far more than the polar bears. Everything on earth is affected. The polar ice where the bears live is melting more and more every day. Their only chance is help from us. Sure, the temperature won’t spike from 75 to 120, but we are already seeing the effects. The turning from fall to winter is 10 days longer than it should be. Unusually strong hurricanes and other extreme forms of weather are being seen world wide as a result of global warming. And as a result of the melting ice in the arctic, the sea levels have actually risen 3 inches. So global warming isn’t just impacting the polar bears, it’s impacting all of us.

Can It Be Stopped?
Lucky for us, there is a force out there that is constantly fighting global warming. Trees. Flowers. Bushes. Plants in general. Where we need oxygen, they need carbon dioxide. They absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to help make their food. They absorb the CO2 that’s causing global warming. And on top of that, they release oxygen, which we need to stay alive. So, plants absorb the gas that’s causing global warming, and “exhale” the gas essential to human life. Is there a downside?

The Downside
There is a downside. Trees all across the world are being cut down to make room for houses, buildings, and roadways. Trees are the best way to stop global warming, and they are creating the gas that humans need to survive. Their numbers are rapidly decreasing, and as a result, global warming is wreaking havoc all over the world. So plant trees, carpool, and be more ecofriendly. The polar bears need our help, and there is no disputing that. Up hold the GreenScape motto, "Plant a Tree, Save a Bear"
