The Audubon Jazz Explosion Big Band was started in March of 1994, by Collegeville saxophonist Bruce Greenwald. With the help of original band members Rob Boullion and Nancy Dietz, many excellent musicians were hand picked to fill each big band position, including local music teachers, top musical theater pit orchestra members, and various players from other musical organizations. The idea was to meet weekly as a rehearsal band, to read and learn as many jazz charts as possible. After being given an opportunity to perform in public, the Audubon Jazz Explosion has been asked to perform for many private parties, concert series, and jazz festivals.
