Quotes I have heard spoken:

"...Archaic, Modern Vaudeville..."

"...Is that a sword in your pocket? Or are you just happy to see me?..."

" ...Then you whip out your Magaga!" "My WHAT??!" "Your Magaga. So that the crowd will have a reason to cheer!" "But, they'll laugh!" "No, they'll cheer." "No. They'll laugh."

"Oh, Cap-tain Schnook-ie-face!!!"

"...I don't know where ye've been lad, but I see you've won first prize..."

" Hey, these aren't one of our boots!!"

"..and the third pig was more bold and stupid than those before him..."

"Oh my God! They killed Kenny! You Bastards!" (no, I'm not kidding, either)

"God Save the Keg!"

"My God, you can just smell the testosterone, can't you?"

"I've been a naughty little Alpine boy..."

Be careful, if you attend one of these you may find them habit forming. Void where prohibited by law. If painful swelling persists, please visit your doctor or at least be more careful whom you kiss from now on...

Here are some photos from the Festivals (I'll be adding more or swapping out shots from time to time. )

Some renfaire folk that I know at the MD RenFest. Russ (owner of Holy Cow) is the blonde gentleman on the right. The other two are Steve and Pat (owners of Tall Toad, fantastic hat makers). All are enjoying a quiet moment by being a bit weird with a boggin's baby.

Boggin = Think cabbage patch with a demonic lineage

This is one of my favorite photos

This is Leslie Glass. She was Penthouse International Pet of the year in 1994. A very, very nice and sweet lady. This was taken outside of the booth I work at. The lipstick on my cheek isn't her's. Our local "Wench Walk" decided that I should be one of their victims. But the pose was her idea. Hey, who am I to argue with an attractive woman??

Doesn't it just suck to be me ?

A great shot of an old friend named Kedra (it's her real name, I saw the driver's license once upon a time...).

Very nice girl. One of the few times I've seen her smile in a long time.

If you happen to have info on her, please drop me a line!!!

This is Jeanne. What can I say about her? I've known her since she was 17 (pre-renfest). Sorry guys, she's married (there must be some sort of virus going around, everyone is getting married these days, me included).

Oh, and she sells Valkyrie Armour (a.k.a. the brassieres of doom) for the fun of it at Kate Cox's stand. I'm just thankful she doesn't personally promote the see-through chain-mail versions.

One of those "notorious" rose grrls from the Maryland Renaissance Festival named Demetra (who is a total sweetie and By the Gods very cute!)

Yes, people, she does accept tips.

If you see her at Fest, ask her to do the shimmy for you.

Then duck!

Four, ... um, I mean, TWO of my favorite reasons to go back to Faire again and again.

Kissandra Serenade and Scarlett O'Harlett (formerly of the Bawdy Balladeers, now Women of Whimsey) sing some of the best adult-themed tunes around. They even made my folks blush.

They have a new CD out. Contact Laura via her webpage to get it. It's good. Honest. Have I lied to you recently?

This is little ol' me. Honorary Rogue (from some ladies I met from the GA faire, so go blame them), veteran of twelve years at the MD Fest and three at the VA site, Patron-Saint of wayward women, Ronin of Bad-timing, yadda, yadda, yadda (been saying this for years, never have watched Seinfeld, didn't get what I did see when I saw any of it, time to change the channel).

This shot was taken by Con-Tour at Dragon*Con 97. Don't know if I made it into their issue dealing with that SF convention (if I did, please let me know). Great shot of me in my standard garb. The rose glows in the dark (great gimmick for getting noticed), the rest of the outfit and wearer does not.

   NEWER STUFF (last updated 11/25/00)

This shot is from the last Final Pub Sing for the 1996 season. I had some old cannisters of film developed and found a few surprizes when I got them back.

The gentleman's name is Nymblewyck, who with his wife, make up the duo known as Whipflash. Great performers and really nice folks. I have a link to their website that gives current performance schedules and contact points.

 (The Emperor's New Clothes)

I finally had my  photo taken with my new Greenman doublet. A few people on my "street" at the MD Fest turned me onto Pendragon Costumes from California. These people make very striking doublets (a.k.a. jerkins, renaissance-styled jackets/vests) and bodices (the precursor to the corset or bra). Since I really have no intention of becoming a cross-dresser (I don't even want to contemplate how much depilatory creme I would need for my face or body, ouch!) (this is a joke, you're allowed to laugh at it, 'kay?), let alone pull off wench garb, I jumped at the chance to get one of their new styles of doublets. Well, getting a new Visa card helped. The Greenman has hand-tooled oak leaves going up and down on the vest part. I chose the Greenman (now known as the Oak King) as I really liked the style I saw and the images it invokes. The Celtic style was in the running, but everyone and their brother has that one, this one's a bit different.

As you can see, the entire outfit is very striking and I have gotten many complements from all sorts of people on the occasions I have had the chance to wear it. Unfortunately, the closest Renaissance Festival Pendragon participates in is the Texas Renaissance Festival. They need to come to MD. But then again, I have seen multiple doublets and bodices that were theirs at MD this year (1998-2000) so the word is getting around on how good their stuff really is. When I saw "Shakespeare In Love," I noticed that I have a similarly styled doublet. Very kewl! <grin, grin, grin>

This is an old shot of Fletcher T. Moon, the captain of the Pyrates Royale (see link at bottom of page). I'll be adding something witty about old "Cap'n Schnookie-face" at a later time.

Legalese: I need to make sure he won't try and punch my lights out for saying something smart-ass about him. ;-) Like it isn't a challenge already...

March 15, 2002

A photo of a very attractive lady named Maureen. I took this photo a few years ago, but I procrastinate. A lot.

Gods, sometimes I really miss the RenFest.

One major bit of sad news to report. Bill Huttel, the actor who played King Henry VIII, passed away in November 2001 from a sudden heart attack. For further information, please go to the official MD Renaissance Festival's web page.

I'll post a shot of the "King" when I find a decent one.

As the saying goes, "The King is dead. Long live the King!" Meaning that even though things won't be exactly the same, life goes on.

NEW STUFF!!!!!!

Here are some shots from this past weekend's AFR and Wench Invasion weekend. My text and photos may not line up correctly (I'm doing this in in straight HTML I have not installed GoLive yet) so please forgive me.

This is a shot of two very lovely ladies I ran into, quite by random (yes, really). They're names are Beth (on the left) and Selene and both hail from Texas and were a total blast to hang out with. If either of them read this, I just wanted to say thank you. It really meant a lot to meet some fantastic people (also, you two are sooo darn cute!!!!) that were so easy to talk to and get along with. If I ever get down to Texas Renfaire, would you like to hook up and you two can show me around your faire?

I also met this fantastic lady (and I do mean LADY) from California named Kerry. We must have talked for hours. She was so cool and so funny. Too bad she's married and I'm married. If we weren't married... we both be single (this is a joke, 'kay?). It was like meeting one of your very bestest, best friends for the first time

Yes, I looked like hell. It was the last "hot" day of the season and I was dying from all the leather and silk I was wearing.
