I know enough to be dangerous -- or at least be dangerous with a flash and a charge card. You know you have a problem when the Ritz Camera catalogue is a reason for celebration.

There is no shortage of advice when it comes to photography. But wishing to move beyond point-and-shoot cameras, I have found a big need for reinforcing academic study with getting your hands dirty. I've shot more bad pictures than good -- 24 rolls around Italy during a vacation 10 years ago. Thank goodness for digitial cameras. At least I no longer have 3/4 of a roll of unusable images accompanying the five that turned out correctly.

This is a starting point, but I will add more as time permits.
