1. Wrap 4 or 5 turns of tippet material on to end of next section of existing leader. (Light always wraps onto heavier)
2. Pull end of next section into v created by tippet and old material, and hold it there.
3. Continue wrapping tippet material 4 or 5 more turns and then tuck tip through back at point where tip of next section is sticking out in opposite direction.
4. Pull knot tight and trim off excess.

With a little practice you can save most of the next section up the leader as you tie on new tippets, making it necessary to replace the next section up the leader only occasionally through the season.
