Whats happening with baby this week:
November 27th - December 3rd

I'm a Fetus! Starting with this week, the baby is now called a fetus. The most critical part of the baby's development is over. This is a period of rapid growth, and the baby is about 2 inches by the end of the week. The baby's head is about half its length. The eyelids will fuse shut, and the irises will begin to develop. Sometime during this week or the next week, blood will begin to circulate between the baby and the uterus and the placenta starts to function.

Whats happening with mommy this week:

This week we had our first Doctor visit with our new OB Dr. Lewis. He specializes in high risk pregnancies. He said that my blood sugars are still looking good but they are going to keep me in the high risk category regardless. I've lost 5 pounds since my last doctor visit. My nutritionist didn't want me to loose any but my Doctor said that it was okay during the first 4 to 5 months, after that he doesn't want to see any more weight loss.

We got to see Clover again during this visit. Dr. Lewis brought in a little ultrasound into the exam room. He wanted to make sure Clover had all the desired parts. Unfortunately, it was too early to tell if Clover had any “extra” parts. We saw 2 legs and 2 arms fluttering all about. Clover looked like s/he was doing the hula! Randy couldn't believe I couldn't feel her/him moving around. Unless it feels like gas, I haven't felt any movement yet. We are hoping to schedule the next ultra sound sometime in January. This is where we could find out if Clover is a girl or a boy.
