Whats happening with baby this week:
March 11th 2004 - March 17th

Your baby is most active between weeks 24 to 28, when small size and ample amniotic fluid allow for freedom of movement. You may feel your baby jump in response to loud sounds or even notice a reaction to bright light aimed at the uterus. The latter indicates good optic nerve function. Studies indicate that the foetus can respond to touch now. Your baby is around 12 inches from head to toe (23cm crown to rump), and weighs one pound, 12oz. As the blood vessels in the lungs began last week, the air sacs in the lungs begin this week. The lungs begin to secrete surfactant which covers the inner lining of the air sacs which then allows the lungs to expand normally during breathing. Besides the active lung growth, the brain kicks in with brain wave activity for the visual and auditory systems.

Whats happening with mommy this week:

This week has been a very moving week. Moving that is for little Clover. Clover has learned to kick and do summersaults. Last night I think she had the hiccups! We've had a fun time feeling the baby move around. And Clover has had fun playing with daddy. Every time he puts his hand on my stomach she holds her breath and stops moving! Although one day last week she was kicking and I put his hand on my stomach and she kicked for him. I don't want to speak for him, but I think that excited him. Randy has also had fun making my belly button stick out. Every time I lay on my back and laugh my belly button pops out. The more it pops out the more it makes him laugh and the more he laughs the more I laugh! It's a little odd I haven't noticed much movement until this week and all the sudden, she's constantly moving around. We had another doctor visit and everything seems to be fine. I've now gained 2 pounds from my pre prego weight. We are less than 100 days now, It seems to be zooming by!
