Whats happening with baby this week:
May 6th 2004 - May 12th

Your baby, weighing in at four pounds and 11 oz, and measuring 30cm crown to rump or 16 inches, urinates nearly a pint a day. In fact, the urine, along with sweat and other fluids from the baby, help to make up the amniotic fluid. This amniotic fluid completely replenishes itself every three hours. The baby responds as a newborn with its eyes open while awake and closed while sleeping. S/he is developing immunities to fight mild infection. Those sharp little fingernails are at the ends of the fingertips already, and you might need to clip them during the first few days after birth.

Whats happening with mommy this week:

This was a busy week. Well, they all seem busy to me. Randy and I went to a baby shower for a friend of mine at work Christina who is due 2 weeks after me. It was in a great house with good food, but it was a little boring. No fun games and we didn't get to see all the oowy gifts. Everything was a bit rushed. Randy had a softball game on Sunday. Boy, am I learning the importance of always knowing where a bathroom is! I had to pee so bad when we got home I couldn't even walk! On Tuesday we had an all day session at the hospital. First we had an ultrasound. Our sonographer wasn't all that pleasant. She was “just there to do her job”. She took a quick peek between the legs and said she couldn't see anything. So, still, we do not know if this “little critter” is a boy or a girl, although we are still thinking girl. Next we had a non stress test. We got to see Clover on ultrasound again this time in the doctors' office. Here we got to see little Clover kicking me. Then they hooked me up to two monitors, one to measure the babies heart rate and one to measure movement. Everything seems to be fine there. I'm going to have to do this twice a week now until the baby is due. I'm not quite sure why, everything seems to be going good. Next we had a Doctors visit. I like the Doctor we are seeing now. She's much more informative. She got the results of the ultrasound. She told us that the baby is apx. 7 pounds now. She's a little worried that the baby might be getting too big. She might not want me to go full term. But I guess we will know more in the next couple weeks.

On Wednesday Randy's mom and dad came over and brought us our baby shower gifts early. They bought us a dresser and changing table pad, the cutest little mobile for the crib, and a very cute lamp. They have done a lot for us all along. Don't forget to look at the link to baby gifts we received coming soon.
