Whats happening with baby this week:
October 9th - 15th

You've now reached the second lunar month of pregnancy, two weeks' gestation, and four weeks after your Last Menstrual Period. 'Primitive streak' (the forerunner of the brain and spinal cord) is evident. Baby's head is now detectable. A groove forms in the primitive streak, setting stage for three layers of tissue: ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm. Gentle exercise is fine but don't do anything that involves excessive jolting, jumping and jogging. The ectoderm will form skin, hair, linings of ear, nose, mouth, glands and the nervous system. From the endoderm, baby will develop lungs, tongue, glands, bladder and digestive tract. From the mesoderm, baby will develop muscles, bones, blood cells, heart, excretory and reproductive systems. The next 10-30 days are crucial for development of the nervous system and heart.

Whats happening with mommy this week:

FRIDAY OCTOBER 10th.... 11pm. I took a pregnancy test and it came out positive. I Called Lexie and shared the possible news. After screaming and calming me down some, she told me to call the Dr. and make an apt to have a test done to make sure.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 11th 10am......I went to the Sunnyside hospital and had a test done. It takes 24 hours to get the results. It takes everything I have to keep this to myself, just incase I'm not. We had a small family gathering to remember our good friend Jody the dog. She passed away just last week. I also did not find this an appropriate gathering to tell the news.

SUNDAY OCTOBER 12th 2pm.....Julie picked me up for a pampered chef party that Katrina a lady from hers and Randys work was giving. I called the advice nurse on the way. She told me my results were positive. Julie and I both screamed. The nurse asked me if I was happy or sad. I said, VERY HAPPY!! she told me to call in next week to make an apt. to see a Dr. When Julie and I got to the party, there was a 7 day old baby there. When my face lit up they asked what was going on (or something like that) Julie said, "She just got some very exciting news!" So, I told the group of ladies that I just found out I was pregnant. I just could not hold in my excitement. After the party, Julie and I went to the baby depot and picked a few things up to surprise Randy with the news. I had a rocken Grover and we bought some booties and a pacifier and a bib and a card. I put it all together when we got home and asked Randy if I could talk to him in the bedroom. I gave him the present and he said, "Are you serious?" He hugged and kissed me for a bit then we started calling family to tell them the good news.

First we called my mother; she was over at my sisters house. We called over there and told mom. She seemed to be happy, but maybe a little down because she is so far away from us and her soon to be new grandbaby. It makes me sad that she is so far away as well. Next we told my sister. She said, "Welcome to the breeders club!!!" She seemed pretty happy for us as well. Next we called my Grandma Baker. She seemed excited that next year when she comes to stay with us, we will have just had her great grandbaby. Next we called Randy's folks. We set up a time to meet them for dinner. Sharon has a piece of jewelry called a squash blossom. It's said that those who wear it become pregnant. I had worn it about a month ago. We went to Marie Calendars for dinner. When we got there Randy took the squash blossom off and gave it back to them and told them we wont be needing it anymore. They both lit up but wanted it spelled out. "Does this mean your pregnant???" When we told her yes, Sharon yelled, "I'm SOOO HAPPY!!" Julie was also with us at dinner. We called Grandma and Grandpa Grover from the restaurant. It was a very happy day. We went back to Randy's folks house and started calling more people. Robin, Angie, Jennifer, Doug and Jenny, Uncle bob, Aunt Nadine. We didn't get home that evening until about 11:30pm. We both went to bed with a smile on our face and in our hearts.

MONDAY OCTOBER 13th 10AM....I called to make my appointments. The advice nurse calculated my Pregnancy at 4 weeks and 4 days. So, this all started on September 11th 2003. We made a few appointments, she went over my medical history, told me a few things to do, and eat and take. We have Ben today. He is VERY excited about having a new Half brother or sister. We are taking him to the pumpkin patch today.

TUESDAY OCTOBER 14thI started telling everyone at work. Of course everyone is so happy for me. Everyone has some kind of advise for me. I listen to some, but mostly I smile and nod :)
