Our Focus
FIBER: We concentrate on the local cottage fiber industry. As hand spinners and knitters ourselves, we know that simply having fine fiber or dense fiber is not enough. If the fiber is not consistent (varying diameter of fiber) throughout the blanket or if the staple is not of sufficient length, the fiber is difficult to handle. These negative characteristics make even fine fiber less desirable. Our focus is on fine, consistent fiber with long staple length. We then add the density without compromising fineness or consistency.

HUSBANDRY: We call on our livestock experience to implement tried and true methods of raising our animals – not modern methods of pampering. Like all livestock, alpacas instinctively know how to survive. We, therefore, prefer a medically hands-off approach, giving medical attention only to those that require it or for those situations against which they cannot defend themselves. We strive to keep our herd management effective, affordable, and balanced between holistic and modern medical practices.
