Glen Scott Allen's Blog

Welcome to my blog. This is where I'll post news about The Shadow War, as well as comments from readers.

For instance, if you've found something interesting from your own research about the book - begin with "Explore the Novel" - please send me a note and I'll share it here.

The New Cold War?

Russian sleeper agents - including the gossip column favorite and Maxim model Anna Chapman - arrested in the U.S.; a Washington Post series about the extensive U.S. security apparatus and how it's become a "secret government"; a resurgence of Cold War tensions between the U.S. and Russia ... news of Russia testing a new, biggest-ever ICBM called The Mace ....

The Shadow War, written before any of these recent revelations became news, seems to have anticipated these current world events. But the book also suggests a new take on such fears: that we were manipulated then by people and institutions that were hopelessly locked into an Us vs Them worldview, but didn't have the vision and courage to explore new international paradigms. And perhaps we're being  manipulated again.

Certain political powers are always perfectly willing to exploit people's fears and encourage their paranoia in order to achieve their own limited religious and political goals. The Shadow War suggests this has been going on a lot longer than we might think; perhaps all the way back to the founding of this Nation.

In the section "Exploring the Novel" I provide some links to get interested readers started in doing their own investigation of some of the ideas from the novel. I think you'll be quickly surprised at how much of the novel is based on fact. I encourage readers.to investigate these and other real-world pieces of The Shadow War puzzle, and to share their discoveries and conclusions with me.
