We could care less, but we have decided to care more.

What are we?

We are, first and foremost, focused on God, and on the salvation that comes through our Lord Jesus Christ and we are a caring and loving congregation, committed to serving our neighbors.

Our Purpose

Our overarching mission is to glorify and serve God by reflecting God's light throughout the world. There are five basic cornerstones to our purpose, and together they comprise our reason for existence." (1) Above all else, we wish to love, worship, and praise God, who is truly a magnificent God. (2) We strive to equip the saints; that is, we emphasize the importance of Christian education, so that our members can grow in faithfulness and knowledge of this awesome God. (3) We endeavor to be witnesses to the world, by virtue of how we live our lives, and thereby show others God's plan to redeem the creation. (4) We intend to carry out the Lord's work by cheerfully and faithfully serving our neighbors within our local communities and throughout the world. (5) We laugh together, cry together, struggle with real issues, help one another, grow together, share stories, and see God together. We are all unique creations, and therefore we value, respect, and love one another as fellow members of the Body of Christ.

We will carry out our mission, as outlined above, by diligently studying God's Word, by exercising strong leadership and good stewardship, and by relying on the wisdom and strength of the Holy Spirit for guidance and inspiration.

Guiding Principles

We believe that there is absolute truth in the world, and that Jesus Christ rightfully proclaimed himself to be "the way and the truth and the life" (John 14:6).

We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God.

We believe that God wants us to live life abundantly, in the fullness of God's grace.

We know that we are saved by God's grace, through faith in Jesus Christ, and acceptance of the redeeming work Christ accomplished for us on the cross.

Although we are saved by grace, through faith, we believe that our worldly efforts and deeds are a proper response to God's grace, and that such deeds demonstrate the love we feel for our neighbors throughout the world.

We value beauty in our place of worship, but our decision making is guided by the belief that action, precipitated by love for our neighbors, is of greater value than beauty.

At all times, including when we are faced with difficult decisions, we are guided by our credo that "we could care less... but we have decided to care more"

Enabling Processes

Successful accomplishment of our strategic goals requires many supporting or enabling processes. Although these enabling processes are somewhat less important than the five overarching goals, they are nevertheless very critical "background" processes; without them, it is highly improbable that we will be successful in accomplishing our overarching goals. Some of the enabling processes critical to our success are as follows:

Our Vision for the Year 2010

Good Samaritan Presbyterian Church is a God-centered, loving, and welcoming community of worship, mission, and fellowship. We endeavor to deepen our knowledge and experience of the grace that God has shown us through His Son. As an active, mission-oriented, and prayerful congregation within the Body of Christ, the positive impact of our love is felt within the local community and throughout the world. Our community of faith is a hub of activity in Charles County, with a Christian pre-school and a complex that provides ample opportunity for worship, fellowship, education, recreation, and social interaction. Our efforts result in the planting of seeds throughout the world, and a full harvest in our local community. In everything we do, we demonstrate our love of God and our faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ, by living out our credo: we could care less but we have decided to care more.

We could care less... but we have decided to care more
