- Mary Kaspar would marry twice. Her first marriage was to Frantisek (Frank) Hrdlicka. Frank and Mary had several children, one of whom would die in infancy and without a name. Two others of their children were Joseph and Cecelia. Frank would die early as well, leaving Mary with a young "Cel" (pronounced "seal") to raise. - Mary would remarry in 1900 to John Petran, also his second marriage as his first wife, also named Mary, would die and leave him with a young daughter named Rose. Mary would divorce John, and when she died in 1936, beburied next to her first husband, Frank, their unnamed child, and another daugter, Marie, at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
Frantisek (Frank) Hrdlicka - Frank's gravestone, although severely weathered, appears to have a Confederate General carved into its face. In fact, it is a Knights of Columbus, as Frank was a member. Years later another of Mary's children would lie at rest feet from her and Frank - Cel and her husband Michael Korman.

Joseph and Hilda Hrdlicka's son, Meryl, died on Dec. 19, 2008. I met Joe and Meryl only once, on their visit to St. Louis. I remember seeing Joe and being fascinated by the fact that he was a spitting image of his younger brother, Edwin Petran.
Meryl had been the Mayor of Lynwood, WA for nearly a quarter century.
