About the Photographer
NAME: Patricia P. Gutierrez
AGE: 34
STATUS: Married with three sons
INSPIRATIONS: At a young age, I admired the work of Ansel Adams and Anne Geddes.
Now, I just admire the makers of Canon, Adobe and mother nature and try to combine them together!
Here's a little information about me:
I grew up in a sub-city off San Jose in California. I started my photography infatuation when I took on a job
at Kinderfoto my senior year in high school and had to stand in as the photographer when the real photographer called in sick.
After graduation from Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, I moved on to Olan Mills as a full-time portraits photographer. Meanwhile,
I went to school to become a Medical Assistant. Photography was just a hobby.. something that happened whenever I had the chance (ie: birthday parties).
In 1996, at the age of 23, I met (and married) my husband David who was a civilian at the time (wink wink). He joined the Army in 1998 and life, since then, has been an adventure!
We moved to Ft. Campbell, Kentucky in 1999 and lived there for one WHOLE year! He then got orders to Korea and I moved back to California during that time.
It wasn't until my husband got orders to be stationed in Hawaii (2001) that I fell in love with photography again. Five years on the island of Oahu turned my hobby
into something a little more obsessive. I began carrying my camera everywhere we went and I haven't stopped since.
Lately, i've been shooting my husband's adult full-contact football games, but, don't be surprised if you see me capturing journalistic photos either-- I am a 'Jane' of
all trades and I can shoot just about anything that could possibly have a story (or meaning) behind it. Please don't get me wrong, I do have my standards!
There are alot of photos that I do not edit. I do believe in true nature and there are some photos that require just that. I am, however, learning to like digital altering
working with Photoshop CS2 and Photoshop Lightroom. I enjoy playing with photographs and giving a bland picture what it really is when I first snap it's photo: beautiful and colorful.
Sometimes, after I upload photos, they don't come out the way I saw them when I first captured them, so I have to get Photoshop involved.
Intimate/loving photographs are also something that I enjoy doing. I believe in capturing the true beauty of a person or bringing out the loving aura surrounding individuals
that you normally can't see with the naked eye. You know how sometimes you can 'feel' the tension in a room, well through my lens..you can see the soul.
In my Initmate Collection, you can see that I've added colors, contrast and maybe a little airbrushing to give the final look something a woman can be proud to show off.
Yes, I can do that with men too!
So here I am, turning my love for the hobby into a potential career. Hopefully it becomes a successful career, but none-the-less, I enjoy photography...period.
