Whether you like it or not, gun rights are civil  rights.  If you are against gun rights, then you are in the same pack as the Klan and the communists, and are as likely to vote to shut down churches and newspapers as you are to license and register guns.

To get involved, see my 3-cubed plan for pro-gun activists for now through 2004.  Three goals, three tactics.  It is all up to you.

Other Pro-Gun E-Documents

Here are other e-documents that you can use in the ongoing struggle to protect liberty:

Thoughts On Gun Control Legislation (PDF, 180K)
This flyer is designed to be printed in large quantities for little money, and dropped on bus seats, restaurant tables, passed out at anti-gun rallies, etc.  The cover is designed to look like anti-gun literature to attract the attention of those that might ignore pro-gun brochures.  Free to print and distribute at will as long as you don't charge money for it or change the content.  Print on 8.5" X 14" double sided, fold both end quarter panels in to the middle, then fold in half so the picture of the gun and contact information are on the outside.
I am happy to change the contact information on the back for any pro-gun organization.  Just email me.

Assault Weapons Ban - Briefing Book
This booklet is designed for mass printing and distribution to media, politicians, and the public.  It covers the federal "assault weapons" ban and debunks the myths behind the origin and effect.  Prints on two sheets, two sided, 8.5" X 14".  Kino's can produces these for pennies each.  Print, single fold, center staple.  Space is left to include your own contact information.

Jury nullification and the 2nd Amendment (PDF, 31K)
One citizen on a jury can legally stop a bad gun law using nullification.  If a number of convictions are stopped citing violation of 2nd Amendment rights through nullification, then the law becomes void.  Read up and be ready to take a seat in the jury box.

Here are some "paper" books that are worth reading and excellent sources for facts about the pro-freedom position:

Gun/Crime Facts and Statistics

cover Targeting Guns : Firearms and Their... This classic work by Gary Kleck is a studious tome by a revered criminologist.  Targeting Guns is the original source of the "2,500,000 defensive uses" data as well as a wealth of other information.  Between this and John Lott's masterwork, any anti-gunner should burry their heads in shame.
cover More Guns, Less Crime : Understanding...  Considered by many the best statistical analysis of the lack of effectiveness of gun control available.  Prof. Lott analyzed multiple tiers of data for EVERY county in the U.S. and confirmed that gun control laws have one effect on crime - it increases it.

2nd Amendment Origins

p That Every Man Be Armed : The Evolution of a Constitutional Right Hailed by many as the best distillation of the twin rights of the individual and militia to keep and bear arms.  Noted left-of-center law professor Sanford Levinson said of this book "provides indefatigable research into the second amendment, and all serious scholars will eternally be in its debt."

For the Defense of Themselves and the State This is the masterwork of Clayton Cramer, recently made more famous by his deconstruction of Michael Bellesiles's rather silly notion that guns were scarce in colonial America.  This book covers the European origins and legislative history of the Second Amendment, details some 200 state and US Supreme Court decisions concerning the amendment, and discusses issues such as the role of racism in the passage of gun control laws during Reconstruction.  This is not light reading.

The Origin of the Second Amendment : A...This is a dense, but complete compilation of 500+ documents that had a direct bearing on the creation of the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.  For the scholarly minded or the 2nd Amendment warrior in need of reference materials.
