Above all this page wasdesigned to be viewed in high resolution (768x1024) and full screen mode with InternetExplorer 4.01. I am sorry if it doesn't look or sound right on your browser.
I thought a shortexplanation of how this database was created was overdue. First let me say that this isnot my entire file but only a small portion of it. The reason for this is that largedatabases search very slow. From my own experiences on the web, I found that I hatedwaiting a long time for pages to be found and load, just to find out that the informationon them was of no use to me. Secondly, I found that I tired of clicking back and forthbetween indices and family pages. To eliminate the long waits I have limited allgenerations to my children's direct ancestors except that for my father and his sister Ihave included their descendants. I did this by creating an ancestor tree (30 generations)for my children in Family Tree Maker and exporting the individuals in the tree to anotherfile. Then I created a descendant tree for my paternal grandmother and exported that to afile and appended the two new files together. I converted this to a GEDCOM file and ran itthrough Gene Stark's ged2html program. To eliminate the clicking back and forth, I createda frames page in MS Front Page and put the first level of an alphabetical index in thebanner page at the top of the screen adding a link to the surnames list. When you click onone of the links in the banner frame it opens the next level of the index in the contentsframe at the left side of the screen. When you click on the links in this index it takesyou to the list of individuals contained in the database with birth and death dates besidetheir names. If you click on their name it brings up in the main window the familyinformation on that person including a four generation ancestor tree with all namesclickable links to the page for that individual. If you are using IE4.0 and browse thispage in full screen mode it will minimize the scrolling you must do, alternatively youshould maximize the browser window if you hate scrolling as much as I do. For those of youtracing your ancestors, if you think you may have a link to one of the siblings of myancestors do not hesitate to contact me as I have much more information on siblings andsome collateral lines. I also have several generations prior to what shows in thedatabase. I also should tell you that you shouldn't take anything on the web to the bankwithout first verifying it to your own satisfaction. (We all make mistakes, typos andotherwise). Most especially if you find an error in this information please contact mewith your sources of contradictory information. I am in the process of entering my sourceinformation into my Family Tree Maker file (a long and tedious process, that doesn't findany new ancestors) and some of these sources will be included in the database when I havethem entered.
