Coach Tim Sarver was a 1963 graduate of Bluefield (W.Va.) High School where his team had a combined 30 – 1 record and one state championship the three years he played on varsity. He had a standout college career at Emory & Henry, where, as a senior, he was named Small College Player of the Year by the Knoxville News and has been inducted into the Emory & Henry Sports Hall of Fame. Coach Sarver's first coaching job was an assistant's position at Lord Botetourt in 1967. Four years later he took his first head coaching job at Bath County High (where he also served as athletic director). After three years at Bath County, Sarver accepted an assistant job at AAA Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas. Following a three-year stint, he moved over to the newly opened AAA Osbourn High School to serve as head coach and athletic director, where he remained until coming to Harrisonburg in 1985. Sarver led the Streaks to the Group AA state title in 2001, as well as a runner-up finish in 2004 and 2010. Blue Streak football teams have won outright or shared a piece of thirteen district championships in 25 years as well as several Regional Championships. Coach Sarver is currently ranked No.3 among active coaches in the state with 278 career victories. Coach Sarver will retired from coaching football and teaching at Harrisonburg High School at the end of the 2010/2011 academic year. As a tribute to Coach Sarver's years of dedication and service to the Harrisonburg High School football program the athletic booster club, the "Streaks Club", will be creating a scholarship in his name with the eventual goal of an endowed scholarship administered by the Harrisonburg Education Foundation.
