About The Site

The goal of this site is to provide information about Fly Fishing and Tying.   Along with ideas for Angling Destinations.  The Friends portion of this site will give links to some little known sites along with some better known ones.  I would highly recommend that you check out Virtual Fly Box and Lines End, both run by Byard Miller.  Byard has put a lot of time, effort and money into Virtual Fly Box.  This combination website and email is probably one of the best you will find anywhere.  The list members offer a wealth of knowledge, friendship from around the world!

One of the members Don Ordes has been featured on Fly Fish TV.  Don's Fantasy Flys are works of art.  Don has also generously contributed two short videos demoing the Rope Dubbing Technique that he developed; more on this on the Fly Tying Page.

About Me

On a warm summer day over Forty years ago I began my adventures in Fly Fishing.  Starting at the tender age of eight.  Fly tying began at about the same time.  I have fished for many different species.  With Trout and Salmon being my favorite fish.   There are all kinds of fly fishing opportunities in the state of Michigan, both cold and warm water.  Lake St. Clair offers what can be considered some of the best Smallmouth Bass, Muskie and Pike fishing in the world.  Both the Clinton and Huron river systems offer good Steelhead and Salmon fishing.  Paint Creek from Lake Orion down to the Clinton River offers some nice Brown Trout fishing.  If the spring has been cold you have a good chance of getting into some Steelhead.  Please release any Steelhead or Rainbow Trout (these are wild Steelhead smolts).  Click on the thumbnails to view a larger image.

As a member and past member of Trout Unlimited,  Clinton Valley Trout Unlimited , the Federation Of Fly Fishers and Virtual Fly Box I support the conservation of our waterways and the promotion of the Art & Sport of Fly Fishing, and the Art of Fly Tying.

I tye at the FFF's Fly Tying Expo every year.  This event is held every December at the Mason County Fair Grounds.  This Expo offers you the chance to sit and learn from a great number of Fly Tyers on a one to one basis.  Another Fly Tying & Fishing Expo that I would highly recommend is the SowBug Round Up, held in Mt. Home, Arkansas. For a side trip you have the legendary White River, some of the largest trout are taken in the winter.  I also give Fly Tying Demos and one on one instruction.

Keep your eyes open at Ebay.  I generally buy my Fly Tying materials in bulk and auction off what I don't need.

Hope to meet you at this year's Tying Expo!
