Kelly and I have started a college savings plan for Sam managed by Putnam Investments called the Putnam CollegeAdvantage. Instead of giving gifts during the holidays, consider giving the gift of education by contributing to his college fund. Education is the gift that lasts a lifetime!

The asset allocation for the portfolio we chose changes based on Sam's age becoming less risky as Sam reaches college age.

From Putnam:

"A 529 plan is a federally tax-free (starting in 2002), national college savings program authorized and created under section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code to help families save for their children's higher education. 529 plans are issued by states and managed by investment managers like Putnam Investments. The proceeds from a 529 plan like CollegeAdvantage can be used at any accredited school in the country."

For more information, please visit Putnam Investments or call 1-800-225-1581 M-F 8:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. EST and Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. EST.
