Caveat Emptor !

Awake and Stirring
Calculated group improv gives way to main theme presentation which then gives way to an electro-bop space shuffle. The drummer works it slick and tasty yet still goes home alone.

Butcher’s Dozen
Stinky atonal mischief.  Redefining “do re mi” for the non-conformist wise ass in all of us.  Dance at your own risk.

Doobah Dazoodah
Wordless vocals and latino flavored syncopation give this one a sort of perverse south of the equator vibe.  The Village Idiot from Ipenema perhaps?

Vast Difference
A melody too nice to be left alone.  So for fear of being restrained by the nuisance of rhythmic structure, we closed our eyes and inserted random pauses in random places.  Our agent suggested we throw in a minute long modal group-interplay vamp so that the kids will buy it.

L’Oaf Royale
A woodwind quintet w/percussion which could have only been written while unemployed.  Toying with one theme, recycling another, nice harmonies go nasty-dancing with their weird cousins.  Would love to hear this one done on stage. Any small artsy ensembles care to reproduce this?  feel free to contact us.

That is Not That
Rockin’ out in 6/8 time. Take the short bus to the circus for three minutes or so.  Contract something that makes you itch and come home again. You needed that.

Revenge of the Yahoos
A goofy ska-jazz adventure that just begs to be used as a theme to some cartoon show.  TV producers are encouraged to use this, we only ask that the show is a hit so as to maximize royalty potential.

Underhound
Faux Blue Note style balladry. A Weird Science   sort of attempt to create a cyber Freddie Hubbard goes awry. The results are quite bearable nontheless. A smokey late night club-closer for non-smoking shut-ins.

Bad Hat Day
A big beat, a fat bottom, some pseudo-ethnic scales, and a hook you can hum while putting up drywall.

10 Cats in Cahoots
A nice elevator ride until the peyote kicks in.  Mamba? Samba? Rumba? whatever.  In honor of Alex & Boomer

11 Rodent Ballet
An amusing, yet demanding twelve-tone dance piece for squirrels, rats, possums, and other assorted suburban varmits.

12 Little Boo
A pleasant and accessable acoustic guitar ballad.  A payoff for those who couldn’t quite swallow tracks 1-11.  Our leader wrote this for his young daughter (in the interest of equal time, a tune for his even younger son is available on the HOX’s second disc, Freakin’ Delightful ). Our warm and fuzzy underbelly is briefly exposed. Don’t get too used to it
