EXPERIENCE

 

CTO and VP of Engineering, Vidiator Technologies, Bellevue, WA. 2002 - Present

 

·         Developed the technology roadmap, product strategy, and business analysis for a CDMA and UMTS, 3GPP compliant streaming and MMSC transcoding product line which was successfully licensed worldwide in 11 countries (3 CDMA2000 and 8 UMTS streaming platform deployments, 11 MMSC deployments globally), resulting in revenues exceeding $7MM in its first licensed deployment. 

·         Managed all aspects of product delivery, including engineering management, implementation of development methodologies and project management solutions, and the automation of all product build and QA processes.

·         Engaged directly with the terminal device manufacturing leads, CDMA and UMTS network engineering teams, and the business marketing division of our customer base to define new enabling technologies for their 2.5G and 3G service offerings.

 

As a market leader for 3GPP-complant wireless multimedia delivery solutions, I helped Vidiator define a competitive product and led the development team through the production and deployment of our technologies.  Key features included an advanced billing and support systems interface, which were key drivers in Vidiator’s selection and ultimate deployment worldwide. As the key liaison to the Operations and Support organization, I helped define the methodology for release management and the field deployment of engineering staff for Support/Professional Services activities.

 


Product Manager (and acting Business Unit Mgr.), Envision Telephony, Seattle, WA        2001-2002

 

·         Defined product requirements and system design/architecture for a new product line.

·         Served as company liaison to market analysts and beta clients.

·         Authored three critical algorithms to be patented for new product.

 

I joined Envision to create and launch a new product line, with direct responsibility for all aspects of the product launch, including the product definition, system architecture and design, and oversight of the engineering team assigned to the project.   I performed all relevant due diligence to derive the critical feature requirements, and led the engineering team through initial prototypes into full development.

 

Lead Analyst, Corporate Development, Loudeye Technologies. Seattle, WA                                       2001

 

·         Provided M&A support and market analysis for Loudeye's Corporate Development division.

·         Responsibilities included the identification of potential acquisition/merger targets relating to Loudeye's business initiatives, technical due-diligence on prospective M&A candidates, and market analysis/recommendations on possible future business options for Loudeye.

 

Technical Director of Professional Services, Loudeye Technologies. Seattle, WA.     1999 - 2001

 

·         Director level role in creating and managing a new consulting services division within the company.

·         Direct P&L responsibilities, reporting directly to the President/CEO and VP of the Consulting Services division.

·         Successfully launched and established a consulting solutions "arm" of the Loudeye digital media services company.

·         Managed globally disperse teams of business and technical consultants through the completion of over fifteen client engagements with gross revenues in excess of one million dollars resulting in an operating margin consistently above twenty percent.

·         Participated in numerous cross-departmental initiatives to increase revenue and improve efficiencies through several organizational changes (e.g., IPO, multiple acquisitions, rapid growth and international office expansion, layoffs and consolidation).

 

R&D Manager, Design Lead, Mosaix, Inc., Redmond, WA                                                      1994-1999

 

·         Managed efforts to investigate new technologies and their adoption/integration into Mosaix proprietary CTI platform.

·         Acted as the lead technical consultant on all Mosaix Professional Services engagements.

·         Responsible for designing, prototyping, and deploying integrated callflow/workflow (agent effectiveness) technologies that were ultimately the basis for the Lucent/Avaya purchase of Mosaix.

·         Instrumental in all technical phases of the Lucent/Avaya acquisition of Mosaix. Acted as technical liaison to Lucent technical staff during the acquisition of Mosaix by Lucent/Avaya.

I am an active northwest enthusiast, with sporting interest in skiing, hiking (especially on the peninsula), and sailing.   Hobbies include home renovation/restoration, community projects, and DVD authoring for friends and family.
