COMMENTS:

A. Russian records of their operational drops of the Czech supported 2 nd Parachute Brigade forces have been extremely difficult to obtain.

One Russian source states: "A total of 24 Czech and Soviet Partisans, divided into 24 Groups were dropped on Slovak territory in July and August 1944". Another source further states: "that in the last half of 1944 alone, 53 Groups jumped". Following the war a Czechoslovakian commemorative insignia for the Mnich Parachute Company appeared and it is believed the unit was part of these partisan forces.

To complete the story of the 2 nd Parachute Brigade. The Germans counter-attacked the area and the Brigade was forced to withdraw into the mountains to continue resistance during the winter of 1944. On 20 November 1944, the Brigade was renamed the 2 nd Brigade of Partisans and it held out until the final liberation. In 1946, the 22 nd Airborne Brigade was formed at Prostejev to continue the history.

B. The USSR established the Polish Independent Assault Battalion on 18 October 1943. The unit was later redesignated as the Polish

Independent Special Battalion (Assault). In January 1945, the unit was redesignated as the Polish Parachute Group of Reconnaissance, Information and Sabotage - GPPRIS

C. MACV SOG took over the program inserting intelligence teams into North Vietnam from the CIA in January 1964)

D. There may appear to be some conflict in the name of the Jedburgh Teams. This is due to fact that the teams were given an English name, but the French, who provided the radio operators, often used a different name for the same mission. Hence, at times the records can be confusing.
