While disease and death seem to signify that which is ugly not desirable for most of us, in the world of the tree a different story can be told. Many times the things that most of us fear for ourselves turn into beauty and magnificence in the forest. We have chosen to focus on the fallen trees of the forest. Those trees that have been afflicted with disease or those that are removed for service purposes are where we find the raw beauty from which emerge our creations. Spalting and burling, are two beautiful formations often found in the wood we use. It is not our practice to harvest healthy trees, but rather leave them to provide life in the forest for the support of Nature’s creatures.
