My 1972 Datsun
240Z

I bought this lime green beauty in April 2008 from a guy in
Atlanta who bought it from a collector also in Atlanta. The
collector bought it from the Nissan Museum when the Nissan
operations were being moved from California to Tennessee in
2006. This car was one of many that had been purchased on
the used market for the Nissan Vintage Z program in the mid
1990's. This program restored 37 240Z's to
"factory new" condition and sold to the public.
This program proved to be very expensive and was shut down after
only the 37 were produced. This car is actually listed in
Pete Evanows "35 Years of Nissan Sports
Cars" as number 38 of 38 produced. This is in
fact an error but the car was is in very good original shape and
was owned by Nissan for around ten years with the original
intention of restoring it.
The original ad for the car shortly after it came out of the
Nissan warehouse can be found here.
You can see more pictures of my Z Car here.
When I first got the car it had the "aggressive
accelerator" problem as alot of early 240Z's have.
This is when you shift down to second gear and take your foot off
the gas to turn a corner and when you give it gas you have a
small delay and WHAM it throws you back in the seat. There
are two ways to alleviate this problem: wear a neck harness while
driving or use this
fix to smooth out the throttle response. It drives like a new car
now but it still has that 70's nostalgia!
