Matt Hatley here, I work for Sun Microsystems out of the McLean, VA office.  I've been on assignment in Guam since 30 March, 2005 helping to install SNAP/CDSOS for the US Army on their experimental Theatre Support Vessel - aka TSV.  I am part of a team dispatched from the Special Projects Office (SPO) out of Ft. Monmouth, NJ.  Thought folks might enjoy some info & pictures detailing the trip.

Here are a few introductory pictures of the TSV (it's approximately 320 feet from bow to stern)...

The TSV-1X aka The Spearhead, is the Army's high speed catamaran manufactured by INCAT.

General Pics of the TSV

1st trip riding on the TSV  On Tuesday, 19 April, I got my 1st opportunity to ride the TSV into open ocean.  A team from the Naval Surface Weapons Center (NSWC) Indiana installed experimental .50 caliber machines.  What made these guns unique was that they were unmanned, controlled from the bridge, use radar & video tracking to zero in on their target.  Our 1st voyage was run about 200 miles south of Guam to a test range to test the new machine guns.  It was pretty exciting this trip, we ran into 12 foot seas.  Many people got seasick - not yours truly because I took my seasickness pills!!!
