Comments About the Books
Practical Homeschooling magazine – (by Rebecca Prewett)
"There I was, very early one morning, half-asleep on my knees, diligently trying to pray for my children: "Heavenly Father, please bless Matthew and help him to ...um...be a good boy and...work cheerfully..." Nothing else was coming to mind. By child number five, I was reduced to "and bless the baby too. Amen" Maybe it wasn't quite that bad, but you get the picture: my prayers that morning lacked power, substance, vision. Later that day, I was reading in Proverbs. "Wow, my children really need to learn this, to make it part of their lives," I thought. Maybe Tom and Marcia Bishop had a similar experience and that is what inspired this simple 24-page booklet. It's for people like me, who mean well but are sometimes a bit uninspired at the crack of dawn. It's for parents who want to make sure they are "all prayed up" when it comes to their children - parents who want to pray for the present and the future. The Bishops have gone through the book of Proverbs and 50 of the Psalms, turning a number of verses into prayers. "Cause our children to see things the way You see them and to understand Your purposes and Your ways." "Cause our children to trust You with all their heart. Keep them from leaning on their own understanding." "Cause our children and their future spouses to be faithful to each other." "Cause us to delight in Your word and think about it all the time." etc. These prayers are not necessarily meant to be prayed verbatim, but serve as a framework or beginning for more specific prayer. Interwoven with the Scripture references and prayer suggestions are short testimonies from the Bishops and other families. I think this simple resource could really change your prayer life - and your family."

My friend Lori and I “finished” praying through “Building on Men’s Faith Through Prayer” for our husbands, our families and ourselves. My mentor Shirley and I are about half way through it. Lori and I will begin praying “Battle Prayers” next Thursday. I just read the introduction – WOW! I immediately prayed for God’s protection in our children’s lives from the “destroyers”. I want to learn to pray fervently in that area! I never thought of it that way and it makes me shudder to realize how true that statement is! It does “take years to build what can be destroyed in a very short time”. Mark and I continue to pray through one of several of your books each night as we prepare to go to sleep. Our confidence and our peace have increased immeasurably as we learn to trust and submit to God more and more through prayer! Thank you for faithfully putting forth what our loving Abba Daddy wants us to have to be more fully equipped to pray and ultimately just to live.

I am ecstatic about this wonderful new book for teachers to use when praying for their students. As you know, I have been using Praying Down the Path of Your Child's Life for several years now and changing the words when applicable to "students."
Being a teacher in our society today is clearly one of the most difficult tasks anyone will undertake. It is physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually challenging. Clearly, the spiritual battle of Ephesians 6 is no more evident anywhere in our society than in our public schools. It is absolutely imperative that Christian teachers come before God daily for protection for ourselves and for our students.
The format of your book makes it handy for me to keep in my desk drawer and I can pray three or four verses at a time during the day. I also use it in the morning during my quiet time going back to those verses I had marked that were most meaningful or more relevant to certain specific needs.
