SURVIVAL PRAYING
Some friends of ours keep this book handy for when they run into hurting people. There is usually a topic covered somewhere in the book that gives prayers that help. It is like a spiritual first aid kit to have on hand for yourself and for those to whom you minister.
Some comments about the book and some sample prayers:
The prayers in this book cover those issues that seem to demand emergency attention in our lives such as: Jobs; Marriages; Protection; Direction; Provision; Children; Lost Spouses, Kids, Friends; and Healing. This book is for those who are in trouble or can see trouble coming. Normally I recommend praying regularly through the books of the Bible to insure we cover all areas of our lives. However, I realize there are times when certain problems seem overwhelming and we need to focus our praying for a time on the problem at hand. Hopefully, this book will cover many of the issues you will face.
If you are really in trouble, go to the "911 emergency prayers" in the back. I tried to include some of the strongest and most helpful verses I have discovered. There are also several pages of prayers for health/healing. They should cover most of the health issues you will encounter. There is also a subset of the healing prayers that came out of my own experience with a mysterious muscle disease and a year of recovery.
JOBS
Father, cause the work You have for me to appear. Cause my children to clearly see Your hand in it so they glorify You. Cause Your favor and beauty to be so upon me that they open doors for the work You are giving. Father, establish the work of my hands and make sure I am doing the work You want. Psalm 90:17
Jehovah-Jireh, my provider, I ask You to provide the job I need to provide for myself and my family. Genesis 22:14
PROTECT and DEFEND
Don't let me be led into temptation. Deliver me from the evil one and all he is trying to do to me. Matthew 6:13
Lord, I ask You to faithfully keep protecting me and keep the evil one away from me. 2 Thessalonians 3:3
PROVISION and RESOURCES
Cause me to fully receive all You offer me. Keep me from wasting my time or money on stuff which is not good for me. Make sure I delight in what You give. Ensure I listen to and obey You. Isaiah 55:1-3
PRAYERS FOR HEALING / HEALTH
Restore my soul (mind, will and emotions). Cleanse my mind of wrong teachings. Fill me with truth, especially things I need to know that have been hidden from me. Point out wrong choices I have made with my will. Cause me to make right choices. Heal my emotions and keep them from controlling me. Don't let prior hurts cause me to be emotionless or hard. Psalm 23:3
Lord, give me health and healing. Cure me and reveal to me an abundance of peace and truth. Set me free and restore me. Cleanse me from any sin and forgive me. Cause me to be a praise and an honor to You before the nations of the earth. Cause them to hear of all the good that You did for me. Work so powerfully in me that they fear and tremble as they see all the goodness and blessing You bring to me. Jeremiah 33:6-9
