The Castle, then and now

From 1955 to 1964, we lived in a house we referred to as "the Castle" because of its unusual round towers.  This picture shows what it looked like in 1955 when we moved in.

Even though we lived there less than 9 years, and it is nearly 40 years since we sold it and moved out, the Castle still occupies a large place in my family's lore.   The people to whom we sold it in 1964 still live there.  And my father lives next door.  When after several moves my parents returned to Winchester in 1983, they bought the house next door to the Castle, the house that the former owner built on the half of the property he did not sell to us.  So whenever I visit my father now, I can look out the window at my childhood home.  This is what about the same view looks like today.

The house is a little hard to see because the spruce trees in the front yard have grown much larger in the past 47 years.  This view is a little better:

This is a view from the southeast corner, the view I had coming home from elementary school each day, except that the trees are much bigger, and the house has been painted yellow.
