2009 ART NOUVEAU CHALLENGEThe Denver Doll Artisans Doll Club hosted the Art Nouveau Doll Challenge at the Rocky Mountain Sew Expo in February of 2009. We want to thank the Sew Expo for providing us this wonderful opportunity. Ribbons were awarded and Dollmaker's Ink and Art Doll Quarterly Magazine provided prizes; Thank You! Next year the theme will be Enchanted Garden and we will be exhibiting at the Sew Expo again in February 2010. Start thinking about the dolls you want to creat for the challenge next year!! We do take mail in entries so all can enter.
The Best of Show Amateur went to Helen Gardner for Flora.
The Best of Show Masters went to Marion Bolson for Wildflower Fairy.
Most Original went to Gretchen Groth for Ms. Wavy.
Best Interpretation of the theme went to Gloria Sales for Mother of Pearls.This doll is porcelain with small "Pearl" babies.
Best Story went to Deborah Robinson for Mary Jane preparing for a walk.Debby sent her doll all the way from New York!! She did a wonderful job and you should see the layers of lingerie! I should have gotten a better picture without another doll reflected in the mirror!
Best Use of Color went to Suzanne McGuirk for A Mother's Wisdom.
Best Use of Found Object went to Suzanne McGuirk for Katherine Waiting for a Train.

28" Marion Bolson - Cody Jumeau porcelain doll with 8" Fairy.The doll is dressed in an old christening gown that has been taken up but could still be used on a real baby.
