January 2  Thur. 20° P.M. cold + windy. School - I fed 60-126 - I was blue but Son + Joanne came + I felt so much better. Put away Xmas tree + lights. Ray, Son + I saw late show. Its 1.

January 3  Fri  8° P.M. cold. I fed 59-132 - Son to BB game. New London - Call from Mrs Mosher + Son leaves 8 P.M. Sat. I wrote him P.M. - Saw T.V. all evening Ray soon will be home - Its 11 - Son hasn’t come yet

January 4  Sat. 0° A.M. Ray had hard time start Jeep. Car no. Son helped. Falls Afternoon. Joanne up - Son went back to Norfolk 8 P.M. We all feel terrible - I just had to break down after. New battery for car today - 2° P.M.

January 5  [Written in pen]  Sun. 0° A.M. 16° P.M. Church - communion Sun. Clyde here for dinner + T.V. Ironed - + watched Wendy + Chippy try to skate. Son called 7:30 P.M. took him 23 ½ hours to get to Norfolk. I called Paul. Wrote thank you notes + Son P.M. Its 11:30

January 6  [Written in pen]  Mon  16° A.M. 28° P.M. I fed 62-137 - Made cake for Ma’s birthday + frosted it P.M. what luck. Its 11:30 - wrote to Laurie, Ray gone to work. Joanne did not go to school.

January 7  [Written in pen]  Tues  24° A.M. 30° P.M. Snowing - about 2” now. I fed - 65-139 - Family night supper + I made cake for Ma’s birthday 8^th Half sister Ruth died yesterday - funeral Thur.

January 8  Wed  12° P.M. snowed 8” all nite - plow before I left. Donny plowed out yard - good. Ray drilled his finger - I fixed jeep door. Ann called P.M. Wrote Son. Wendy over P.M.

January 9  Thur  12° AM - 8° P.M. snow great help - So warm in house. Thanks Father for all. I fed 63-141 - Ray better today - finger sore - I wrote Babe P.M. Bula + Earl did not go to funeral.

January 10  Fri  4° below A.M. 11° above P.M. I fed 63-136. Falls after work. Mended all evening - Ray working til 11 - Have not heard from Son. Thanks Father thou are with him + us all.

January 11  Sat  20° A.M. 8° P.M. Washed, cooked + cleaned. Wendy over with doll. Son called P.M. I over to Wood’s and Ray + Son on phone + Joanne + Andy up too. [“Andy” is Joanne’s sister, Andrea.] They stayed ‘til 10:30 - Had fun.

January 13  Mon  - 0° A.M. 8° P.M. - I fed 56-135 - Ironed P.M. + got done - 11:30 - Ray to work 1 hr ago - letter from Son. He passed his first test - 7390  Wendy here for Supper - her mom + Dad to Mass.

January 14  Tues  0° A.M. 32° P.M. Snow + rain - I fed 62-130 - Grange P.M. 5 new candidates. Ruth Miller one - Gonna have baby. Saw Ester’s baby. cute. Polio drive. Wrote Son.

January 15  Wed  32° AM + PM. Snow all day - lots. I fed 58-131 - Got Wendy at 2:30 - letters from Son, Grace + Frances. Wrote Son + Grace. Wendy over P.M. for T.V. Drewsville home. - Ray sawed wood.

January 16  Thur  30° AM + P.M. rain + snow all day - 16” now plowed all out. I fed 58-127 - Wendy home with me. I shoveled snow to hen house - laying 9 eggs a day - 10 hens. I baked squash pies + 1 apple P.M. talked to Bula on phone

January 17  Fri  32° - some snow - 18” on level. I fed 62-123 - Falls - got gro. water glass for eggs. letter from Reta - wrote her + Aunt G. T.V. awhile too.

January 18  Sat  30° A.M. ice on thermometer + can’t see it P.M. but snow all day + blowing - below 32° I know. Son called P.M. Joanne up. Son passed test. Ma, Ray + I to Mil + Harry’s - Home Early. Ray + I saw T.V. terrible germ [German?] movie.

January 19  Sun  4° A.M. 2° P.M. cold all day. But sun. Church A.M. Ester, Herby + children over. I cut boys hair. Bula called. Earl left for N.J. today. LaFrank guardian over Bobby. wrote Son. God Bless + keep him.

January 20  Mon  2° below A.M. 6° above P.M. I fed 56-129 Ironed P.M. + T.V. too. My head aches P.M. Ray going to work 11 P.M. Roads good - all plowed. Thanks Father for thy love in us all.

January 21  Tues  10° A.M. + 2° P.M. + raining - I fed 61-129 - Put perm. in May’s hair + cut Hans’ P.M. Ray went over with Ma + I. ice froze on windshield coming home. Letter from Son + wrote him. Thanks Father that thou are with all.

January 22  Wed  32° A + PM. I fed 50-129 - rain all day. Roads bad A.M. + now snow. Wendy over P.M. to see T.V. Ray watching fights - Me bed. Thanks Father for all good.

January 23  Thur  32° A.M. 24° PM - No school - roads so bad. All plowed now. phone rang all day. had to disconnect it in cellar. line broke - snow is so pretty - Ray working til 11 - I baked - Ma + I T.V.

January 27  Mon  Rain all day. Snow P.M. + I fed 53-131 Took jeep but roads sanded. Got Wendy. I rested after getting home - wrote Son. Ray to work - T.V. Check for $55 from Son to put into bank.

January 28  Tues  Still snowing - not too much but no school today. Grange P.M. 3rd + 4^th degrees. I took it easy today - washed + set hair + Vacuumed front room. Skirt for Grace came.

January 29  Wed  23 P.M. Snowed all day but stopped now. No school today either - P.T.A. PM at high school. Took Maud + she afraid to wake Ruth. She has Maud + Bill by nose.

January 30  Thur  20°s A+P.M. - cloudy but no snow. I fed 56-138 - T.V. P.M. Paul called + Mrs Smith dying + he + Alice over to B.F. til late. So I wrote Son. And now bed. Thanks Father alls well

January 31  Fri  16° A.M. 18° P.M. Nice all day. Sun. I fed 56-123 - Falls + got Gro. Book from Great Lakes of Son’s Boot camp. 2 letters I wrote him. Paul + Alice here AM but back NY.

February 1  Sat  12° AM - 18° P.M. Swell all day - cloudy P.M. few flakes snow. Washed. Joanne + Andy up P.M. Son called - he passed his test - God Bless + keep him in thy care.

February 2  Sun  20° A + P.M. Swell + sunny in day. 6 weeks more winter - Ruth, Sam + Vic here all day. No church - wrote Son. Ironed. Thanks for an understanding heart.

February 3  Mon  8° AM 10° P.M. Quite cold. Clear + Moon out P.M. so pretty. I fed 60-129 - Ray just gone to work. T.V. P.M. Lucy Ball - so funny. Thanks Father alls well. Guide Son.

February 4  Tues  8° AM - 12° P.M. clear + cold. I fed 57-126 - Alice + Paul over to funeral + came by for an hour or so. T.V. P.M. Ray, Ma + I - Tanks Father that thou art with us all.

February 5  Wed  8° AM + P.M. I fed 60-130 - took sweater set to Ester for baby - so cute. letter + Valentines from Son. He is so good. Wendy over P.M. I baked - Thanks Father - Ray fixed car.

February 6  Thur  12° A + P.M. swell + warm in day. I fed 58-130 - Falls after school. Got Ray Bed room slippers. Made donuts. Wendy got letter from Son. I got Valentines to send. Thy will be done.

February 7  Fri  8° A.M. 26° P.M. snowing hard. I fed 55-130 - Falls P.M. changed Ray’s gift - slippers - he got gloves + longies - Letter from Son + wrote him - I lost polio money - gotta put it in.

February 8  Sat  26° A.M. 16° P.M.  8½  inches more snow. Its so high everywhere. Washed + shoveled snow. May, Hans + Joanne up P.M. Son called - So good to hear him - His average is 78° now.

February 9  Sun  14° AM 10° PM. cold + snowing. Church A.M. Grace called Bula + Frances goes to have Xrays A.M. for internal bleeding. I decorated Jacky Hand’s wedding cake PM.

February 10  Mon  0° A.M. 4° below 0 P.M. cold. But so warm in house. Thanks for furnace + Ray. I fed 55 118. decorated Mimi’s cake. Red Northern lights PM.

February 11  Tues  10° below 0° AM - 2° below P.M. clear + cold - I fed 55 - 127. Grange P.M. Deputy Bemis presented me with certificate + pin. I was surprised. Had swell time - Thanks Father

February 12  Wed  10° below 0 A.M. 22 above P.M. snowing. I fed 54-127 - letter from Son Poem too. I wrote him P.M. Ray has misplaced his wrist watch - He’s looked everywhere - He’ll find it.

February 13  Thur  8° P.M. 0° A.M. I fed 56-123 - I heard from Grace - pretty Valentine - Frances is O.K. I wrote to Son + Falls after school. Ray hasn’t found watch yet but will - Thanks Father for it.

February 14  Fri  5° AM 10° P.M. Windy all day - very cold. I fed 59-133 - Ma + I played canasta - Bula, Earl, Margaret + Bobby by P.M. Charles to Henniker basket ball game. Ray hasn’t found watch yet.

February 15  Sat  0° AM 10° P.M. Washed but hung inside so cold. Son called P.M. so good to hear him - girls [Joanne and Andrea] home early - record hop at hi school. T.V. + bed.

February 16  Sun  14° A.M. 6° P.M. About 12” more snow. Terrible blizzard all over N.E. No church + every thing shut down. No school tomorrow - Ray to work in jeep - Very bad storm.

February 17  Mon  5° A.M. 10° below 0° P.M. very cold. About 17” more snow. I never saw so much. Hen house all covered. I wrote letters all day by spells. Son, Mrs Bemis, Aunt G. T.V. No school.

February 18  Tues  20° below A.M. - 6° above P.M. very cold. I fed 49-116 - Ray chopped icicycles [sic] from roof as it was leaking in front room. Mr. Seavy’s [??] funeral Thurs. Joanne to Dr. about back

February 19  Wed  6° A.M. 14° P.M. nice all day. I fed 58-120 - Donny + I had accident on hill. $103.60 damage done to our car + Don’s truck damaged too. Made out insurance papers.

February 20  Thur  14° A.M. 20° P.M. Sun out. nice. But lots snow. I fed 60- No letter from Son all week. I wrote Reta P.M. Saw T.V. on Laconia dog team races.

February 21  Fri  10° A.M. 32° P.M. Nice all day - I fed 63-130 - Falls after school. Got iron fry pan. I called state cop to report to state Concord. letter from Son. He is so cheerful. Ray took Tunny [the dog] to Dr.

February 22  Sat  32° A.M. 24° P.M. windy. Son called Joanne here. His average is 78.8 - he sounded so good. Washed after noon. Arthur Marx made out income tax and I sent accident report to Concord.

February 23  Sun  14° A.M. 24° P.M. Sun early. then cloudy + light snow. Wrote Reta + Son. rested - church A.M. but not P.M. - they gave Bob a farewell party P.M. T.V. awhile + bed - 10:30

February 24  Mon  32° A.M. 36° PM. Nice all day. cloudy. No school this week. Ironed + mended. letters from Son + Reta - I wrote Son. Washed hair and fixed fingernails - Ray gone to work. Charlestown 60 beat Walpole 52

February 27  Thur  36° cloudy all day. Sleet P.M. It was so good to be alone. Cleaned front room + cellar - Ray so sweet - he’s at work. I wrote Son. Cut out apron - Chas. won P.M. 51-26 New Boston.

February 28  Fri  30°s all day. Snow, Rain + wind. Ray + I to Alstead in jeep for Gro. Coal came. letter from Son. I went after Ma - ate at May’s - home T.V. + bed - 9:30  Thanks for all

March 1  Sat  30’s all day. Snow flouries - Washed + cleaned. Sewed on apron. Son called P.M. he made 100% on a test. Average 80.3, he sounded so good. Charlestown beat Holy Rosary for State champ

March 2  Sun  In 30’s all day. Sugaring has begun. Church A.M. sub. minister - good. To Ann’s afternoon - They are going to Fla Fri + Wrote Son P.M. lot more snow in Alstead Center.

March 3  Mon  30°s all day. rain from Noon on + still - I fed 61 + 126. I baked after school. Kinda hard to get back into swing - Glad to see all - Randy Neal in 1st grade - first day.

March 4  Tues  30°s all day. Rain + snow - I fed 59-130 - State Educational inspectors here all day at school. I was asked to serve on school board but declined.

March 5  Wed  33° A.M. 29° P.M. Nice all day. I fed 55-131 - Insurance Man came P.M. gonna have car fixed - letter from Son. Maud to El school today with me.

March 6  Thur  In 30’s all day - Sun - lovely. I fed 61-126 - Falls after + got gro. Took Ray’s lunch - Kemeic to fix car - 103. Fair [could be ‘Farr’?] wanted

March 7  Fri  34° A.M. 30 P.M. + Windy. I fed 57-124. letter from Son + Aunt G. - I wrote Paul + T.V. P.M. Ray cutting wood + he’s happy - trying to loose [lose] his extra weight - Donny blamed for accident.

March 8  Sat  28° A + 22° P.M. Windy + cold. Son called P.M. 42° + 84° [I think she means %, not °] test - average 79.8 now. Joanne, Randy + Andy up. School board meet P.M. 11 P.M. long. Peg Renzelman + Austin Fletcher.

March 9  Sun  22° A + 26° P.M. Sun all day. Church A.M. Ines + Kathy too. Ray + Nile to Gordon’s to get 1 gal. syrup. Kathy + Wendy had wonderful time. I ironed P.M. Number called to say they would eat this week at school.

March 10  Mon  32A +33P.M. Sun. Swell. I fed 67- Maud 136 - 8 parents extra. Took car to garage + used Mr. Metcalf’s car at school. Ray came for me. He has cold - just gone to work. I wrote Son + Grace.

March 11  Tues  28° A + 34° P.M. Sun + swell day. I fed 61 - 141 - 15 parents. Town meeting - Grange P.M. Avis feet swelled so did not go. I took Masters place + also refreshments - Ma + I went in jeep - fun

March 12  Wed  30’s all day - Sun - Swell - I fed 65-133- letter from Son. I got to school at 7 + got home 3:30 - Ray to Keene to see Dr Ford - His eye has pressure. I feel awful P.M. Ray better

March 13  Thur  32° - 38° P.M. Sun lovely all day. I fed 83-162 - 245 all - Gee it was a job. Falls after + took Ray’s lunch to him - got gro. Vilas got beat - Hinsdale 44-41 - God Bless Ray + Son. They are perfect.

March 22  Sat  30’s - Stopped snowing - 8” - windy P.M. Son called - He won in gun practice. Joanne + Randy up. Ma, Ray + I to May’s P.M. Washed today + took it easy.

March 23  Sun  30’s all day. Cloudy most. Church A.M. took pictures for Minister. Wendy over afternoon - decorated cake for Helen. Wrote letters P.M. Called Ann about Fla. trip + They got home Fri.

March 24  Mon  30s all day. Some sun. nice - snow going slow. I fed 63-125 - Ray going to Canada tomorrow with his Boss - Buck Rogers to buy horses. Stay over nite. I did not go to P.T.A. car in garage.

March 25  Tues  30 + 40 today - freezing a little pm. I fed 60-127-Grange P.M. it’s 15 to 1 now. Sugar supper. I fried donuts all afternoon after school. Ray went to Canada today. Letter from Son

March 26  Wed  Sun. 30s all day. I fed 58-130 - slept til 6 p.m. after school. Ray home at 8. Had mice trip - bot apples. Wendy over Letter from Son.

March 27  Thur  30s all day. Sun. - sap stopped on our trees. I fed 63-127 - Ester + Herby up P.M. hair cuts. Son graduated today - don’t know out come. lot more snow to go - road + yard bare

March 28  Fri  30s but 26° P.M. Sun all day. Snow melting - I fed 59-127 - Falls after school - To May’s cut Han’s hair. Avis - Joanne + I to Gordon’s sugar party - good time - letter from Son.

March 29  Sat  Very warm out today. Washed + dry. Cleaned yd. washed head + Made pies - Son called P.M. + he graduated 24 our of 56 - He may be home soon for Easter - Just 9-going to bed early. Joanne up.

March 30  Sun  Swell day all day. left 7 a.m. + picked up Mile + Ines + went to Manchester + saw Laurin + family - Ate dinner there - Ray looked at cards. Their home very sweet. Got home 5:30 - 160 miles.

March 31  Mon  Rain all day. I fed 60-125 - Frances called me at school. She + Eric taking Ken Bascom’s 2 girls home with them. Ken in hospital - hit in head. Harry no better. Son sent Easter cards.

April 1  Tues  Nice all day. Wind P.M. I fed 58-116 - Ann, Ray + Len up P.M. + showed us their Fla pictures - so good.

April 2  [Written in black pen.] Wed  Rain all day. Snow melting fast + soaking into ground. I fed 58-125. Made cake for Pamona Grange + fudge for Metcalf + Son. letter + gift from Son today. God Bless + keep him. Forgive me-

April 3  Thur  Snow a.m. but all gone. Nice P.M. I fed 58-126 - Falls after school. Fixed Easter baskets for tomorrow - Saw good movie on T.V. Early show. Easter card from Eunice - Sent 6.

April 5  Sat  My 48 birthday - Got so much - Son walked in - Thanks Father - Paul + Alice came P.M. quite late. Son took Joanne home. Paul bot so much. Ray gave me 3.00

April 6  Sun  Rain + snow all day. 34º P.M. cold + damp. We all went to church. Good Minister there. Son Welcomed by all. Joanne here + 6 to dinner - So good to have all here. Bless Paul’s Newport [?] Job. Son + Jo to Movies P.M.

April 7  Mon  Son engaged to Joanne today. Gave her ring. Dad + I both upset but God Bless them both. I fed 57-119. Rain all day. Ray just left for work. Son in T.V. now

April 8   Tues  Very windy + cold - 28º P.M. I fed 57-119. Son helped peel potatoes + I washed his clothes. He stayed at school + played ball. Grange P.M. Ma + I. Ray home. Son to Joanne’s - God Bless us all.

April 9  Wed  Very cold + Windy. 30’s all day. I fed 58-125 - Washed more for Son. He + Ray to Manchester to see cars but did not get one. Wendy got upset at school but all O.K.

April 10  Thur  Swell - I fed 57-128 - Falls + got my eye glasses for reading - surely nice to see fine Stuff. Son to Keene with Everette [sic] Bragg  Joanne to All State Chorus. T.V. P.M.

April 11  Fri  Rain A.M. Snow P.M. No school. I cleaned - Son + Charles to Manchester P.M. to get Joanne + 3 others from All State Chorus. Donny over P.M. Ma + I T.V. I wrote Ines

April 12  Sat  Cloudy + sprinkles - Everett + Jim Howard up to see Son. Son with Jo P.M. he got home 2:30 a.m. O.K. Baked all day + sewed. T.V. P.M. bath too - Aunt G. home

April 16  Wed  Swell + warm. I fed 55 - 119 - School out early - Wendy had Linda Ward to come home with her. We all took walk. Ray to Dr. but Dr gone. He + Son tried out car in Keene. Son to Joanne’s P.M.

April 17  Thur  Swell + warm. I fed 55 - 126 - Ray + Son moved stove to shed + I cleaned my bed room. 3-1 act plays P.M. Joanne won best Actress + Chas. won best play. Ray just got home.

April 18  Fri  Swell + warm. I fed 54-129 - Falls after - rested - Joanne + Son to Drive-in. I wrote Grace + Son busted his watch - got 2 rose bushes - Thanks Father for all good.

April 19  Sat  Swell - Ironed - baked, cleaned. Son + Joanne rode motorcycle + jeep - at dance now. Mil + Harry here P.M. so good to see them. I cut Mil’s hair.

April 20  Sun  Swell - Thanks Father for safe + wonderful trip to Quanset Pt.  Ray, Joanne + I took Son + how we hated to leave him. 150 mi. down + 170 miles back. Ma to May’s -

April 21  Mon  Swell - I fed 54-110 - I cleaned dish closet after noon. Packing away dishes I don’t use. Ray fixed car door + doom [dome?] lite. God Bless + Keep Son. Thy strength with him.

April 22  Tues  Warm - 70ºs - I fed 50 - 115 - Raked flower bed + found rose bush - Took banking down - West side. Son called + he likes R.I. Grange P.M. good meeting.

April 23  Wed  Swell - showers. I fed 53-107 - Washed after school. Wendy here to supper. her folks to Auction - Ray to Keene to Dr Forde [sic] + then took banking down to dump. T.V. P.M.

April 29  Tues  Rain all day. I fed 49-107 - Ray + I went to B.F. + got car. Its so nice + has 25073 mileage - Green - pretty - went to Bula’s P.M. Ray having it transferred [having the car’s registration transferred into Ray’s & Irene’s names.]

June 3  Tues  Swell. Washed + Falls A.M. got Tom[ato] plants at school - left 1:15 for Newport Vt. Got here at 5:30 - 154 mi. Paul + Alice took us into Canada + we got souvenirs - it’s a beautiful place up here. Thanks.

August 6  Wed  Swell + Hot - Baked A.M. Ma peeled apples for me. Grace + I helped Ray in cellar + got lots done. She + I picked enough for 7 qts. beans. Up to Bula’s P.M. she had upper teeth out.

August 9  Sat  Cooler but clear + nice  Washed + dry. Son home at 1:30 + he + Jo here for supper. He made it so Don + Helen can go to reception. We all to their apt. + to Falls for card.

August 13  Wed  Swell + hot. Made Son + Joanne’s cake + 1st layer frosting. Ray worked in cellar + mowed grass in Langdon. Up to Spfld to see Aunt G+A. They feel it not going to reception.

August 14  [Written in blue pen]  Thur  Hot-shower P.M. bad other places. Nice out now - 10 P.M. still thundering - Falls + got gro. Went to Joanne’s P.M. + took some more gifts to Apt. Helen + Grace too. Took bath + washed head.

August 15  [Written in blue pen]  Fri  Swell + hot. Rain did lots of good. Grace + I had hair set at B.F. Helen Neal’s. I finished cake + Grace cleaned house. Took cake to Hotel. Son to Wedding rehearsal + then took gifts to Apt.

August 16  [Written in blue pen]  Sat  Son’s + Joanne’s Wedding day. They looked so nice. Son in Navy uniform + Joanne in long hoop skirt of nylon - Church full + recept - so nice - We went to Drive-in with Earl + Bula.

August 17  [Written in blue pen]  Sun  Nice day. Thundering now 11 P.M. I started letter to Reta. No church as car was marked up. Picked beans, canned some. Son + Jo back about 6:30 - So happy. They left for Apt + Ray to work.

August 18  [Written in blue pen]  Mon  50º P.M. + getting colder. Washed + dry. Rod Campbell started on cellar + got over half jacked up. Ray went + got shovel from Town + its big but hope to do some digging with it. Thanks Father cellar is all done + very nice.

August 19  Tues  Swell - 50º A.M. 54º P.M. Sure dug out in cellar today. Rodney used power shovel + almost finished it. Joanne up P.M. for mail - she is so sweet. Forgive me Father.

August 20  Wed  Swell - 34º A.M. 60º  P.M. Got lots more of house on jacks - we all went down to get gas for shovel + bed early. All tired. Thanks Father the house is safe + cellar all done -

August 21  [Written in blue pen]  Thur  Hot - shower P.M. 2 men worked all day + put sill in West side of house. Ray got East side ready for cement. Alvin Clark let us rent his tractor - much better. To May’s P.M. + also took town shovel back. Ray swell.

August 22  [Written in blue pen]  Fri.  Swell + cooler. Got cellar all dug out + ready to make cement - Sonny + Joanne up P.M. so good to see them. I gave them some eggs + donuts for their breakfast. Washed head + bath. Grace + I picked apples.

August 23  Sat  Swell + cool A+P.M. washed Son’s clothes Ma + I to Falls for cellar windows. Ray + I to Harland Fair + to Aunt G+A after. Son up a.m. + fixed his car tire - Ma home.

August 24  [Written in blue pen]  Sun  Swell all day. Rain 11 P.M. Ray took tractor back to Alvins + I went after him - Son + Joanne up to dinner + supper - Ann, Ray + Len up + showed wedding pictures at Pitchers - Then to Sons Apt. + on to May’s + home.

August 25  [Written in blue pen]  Mon  Cloudy A.M. Rain after. Washed - Rod + Reed [Rud?] came at Noon + Paul Monty mixed cement + Ray poured - half foundation - Rain stopped it. $145.25 last week labor. Cellar coming good. Helen out of water.

August 26  Tues  Cloudy + few drops - Cool P.M. Rod did not come til 1:30 + cement mixer broke at 3:45 so didn’t get done. Ray upset but he worked all the day. I canned apple sauce. Grange P.M. Edie Spooner shower too. Ray got bonus check $180.00

August 27  Wed  Nice all day. Andy Pitcher was killed tonite on her bike - ran into Porter’s truck. Son coming home. Rodney finished cement foundation and got ½ east wall laid - Bless the Pitcher’s Father.

August 28  Thur  Clear + cool - still. Son got here 3:30 AM + came here first - Bless them all. I went down A.M. + tried to Comfort Lilla-Joanne + Maurice so brave. Ma + I to Falls + got window + gro. Paul called P.M. I got their ironing to do. Ray to work.

August 29  Fri  Swell - Storm went out to sea. To Falls to get lime - fixed Ray’s Pants + Ma, Grace + I to Pitchers P.M. Lilla taking it little easier - Up to Bula’s to get eggs.

August 30  Sat  Clear + hot. Anndee was buried today. Church packed - Harry Pettersen died midnight + we all went to funeral parlor to see him - Mil taking him to N.Y. Sad day for All. Son went with us P.M. to see Mil.

August 31  Sun  Very hot - muggy. Windy P.M. Church A.M. Took picture of Anndee’s grave + flowers. I picked a little bouquet from them. Took May + Hans to Henniker. Suretts came while gone. Grace here. Bula + all here P.M.

September 1  Mon  Cool - 56º P.M. Washed + dry. Rod worked til noon alone + Ray got up + helped him til 5:30 - front wall all done. Grace + I took Bula + Margaret black berrying - froze some. Son + Joanne up for supper. So good to see them.

September 2  Tues  Swell. Cool + windy. 50º Rod fixed front side wall on East side - Grace + I to get apples + also to Ester’s for awhile - T.V. P.M. - had fire going. Thanks Father thy love + guidance is with us all. Son + Jo too.

September 3  Wed  Swell - cool + but little warmer than Tues. Jacked up house a lot. Rod came at 1 - Ray is anxious to see house finished - I had stomach ache P.M. Grace gave me soda + tums. I feel better

September 4  Thur  Swell - warm. Harry Sr. burried [sic] A.M. in Veteran cemetary [sic] in N.Y. Only 1 brick to go in cellar - Thanks Father its all done + nice. Made crabapple jelly + its not clear. Bula down with plums.

September 5  Fri  Swell + warm. Made 2 big pies for Mrs Dana - $3.00¢ - Rod pushed house in on W. side what a mess. all cubbards crooked. water off. To May’s P.M. Son came while gone. I’m sorry to miss him. God be with him.

September 6  Sat  Swell but warm. Muggy. Need rain. Thanks for it. Son up most of day. So swell to have him. House up but a mess. My cubbards had to be torn on W. side. Son + Jo up P.M. for Miss America pageant.

September 7  Sun  Cloudy - some rain. Thanks. Laurie, Helen + 3 boys over from Manchester N.H. all day. Son + Joanne here for supper too. God Bless them and all. Thy love with thy children.

September 8  Mon  Swell but cool. West wall all done + back door won’t close so covered screen - Had birthday party for Grace - Aunt G + A. Bula + family + Joanne up. Nice -

September 9  Tues  Clear but cool. Grace ironed. Ma + I to Falls A.M. + put 200. in bank - I got stuff for sewage. Grange P.M. late - voted on fixing up church room for our meetings.

September 10  Wed  Showers. Thanks - cool. windy. Cellar all bucked up except S.E. corner. Ray put board on back side. Took Ma to Mays. Grace + I cleaned her room. Took Joanne up to Mil’s to see refrig.

September 11  Thur.  42º P.M. quite cool. Windy all day. Baked. Grace + I cleaned + changed front room - put on clapboards, to Falls for gas. Took two hens from Herby to Maud + up to Bula’s P.M. - for eggs. 3 cellar windows in + 12 blocks to go.

September 12  Fri  32º A.M. got up 6:20 + sprayed water on Tom[atoes] + squash - saved them. Rod finished all but door to cellar. Porch fixed + back door. Grace + I to Lempster + fixed exhibit + float-letters.

September 13  Sat  Warmer - Lempster - won 1st on float + exhibit - $10. + $5. - Float big letter + stamp - 3¢ to 4¢ - Son + Joann up P.M. - new car he is trying out so Joanne can go to work.

September 14  Sun  Swell + warm. No church  - Cleaned cellar + took ride + picked up Ma. Son + Jo up for supper + stayed til 9 - Paul called - alls well. Jo helped me pick out wallpaper.

September 15  Mon  Hot - 84º windy. Washed + dry. Grace + I picked 2 pails grapes + made juice + put in posts. Box from Mrs Bemis. 2 dresses etc

September 16  Tues  Hot - rain after noon. Thanks  - Took Ma to Dr. Tatem. She has hardining [sic] of Arteries - after all she’s 82 - Canned grapes + tomatoes - started to fix cubbard over sink.

September 17  Wed  Rain all day. Thanks Father. Ray finished clapboards - I put up cubbard in Kitchen + shelves in cellar. Grace Helped. She worked too at Dana’s - Ray fixed water in bathroom - I made out P.T.A. committees.

September 18  Thur  Rain most of day. Wonderful. I fixed screen door to front porch. Called P.T.A. most of day. Ray started cellar door. Maud + Bill up P.M. Falls for gro. Thanks Father alls well.

September 19  Fri  Cloudy - baked, moved canned stuff into cellar. Washed bead. Wendy sick - went to see her. Sore throat + 101º temp -Went to Pitchers + got my dishes, to Joanne’s + Son’s + Mays - Grace to Fair Sat.

September 20  Sat  Cloudy - Got all cans down cellar + back porch clean. Took junk to dump + picked + sold corn - 10¢ doz. Son + Joanne up supper + ride - Son coon hunted. Grace to E States Fair. September 22  Mon  Swell - washed + dry. Rod worked on sewer + chimney. P.T.A. reception to teachers P.M. 52 there. I’m so glad its over. Thanks Father.

September 23  [written in blue pen] Tues  Swell - 80º during day. Cool A+P.M. Grace ironed after work. I fixed front doors. Also [fixed the] flour ben [flour bin?] and [the] door to [the] pan cubbard. Made pie for Grange Pie auction P.M. - Ray upset over Rod not being done -

September 24  Wed  Swell all day. Ray + I finished chimney - Grace too. Don too. My legs sure feel it. Went to Mil’s P.M. Joanne called + she thinks she’s going to have a baby

September 25  Thur  Swell + hot. Good parade + Grace + I rode in it. To Falls + got gro. after. Took Earl up to Mil’s to get car + we went to May’s + saw T.V. Its 11 - so I’m tired + to bed.

September 26  Fri  Hot - 84º + more. Baked + canned tomatoes. Ray hauled sand to fill in - Grace worked til 3:00 - We won 1st prize on Grange float yesterday. I did not go to plays

September 27  Sat  Rain all day. Hurricane off N.C. coast. Hellena [Hurricane Helene did not reach land. You can see her path here.] - Paul, Alice, Son + Joanne here to supper. So good to have them all. Son + Joanne want a baby. Thy will Father.

September 28  Sun  Swell but 38º P.M. God Bless Garden. - Paul golfed - Alice went with us + May + Hans to see Mil [in a play probably] for last time - $36. + nice crowd. Son + Joanne here P.M. Bless them.

September 29  Mon.  33º A + 36 P.M. Sprinkled garden A.M. + picked + covered PM. Paul + Alice left 8:30 I worked at school today - fed 159 in all. I only feed first 4 grades. 32 - Joanne pregnant.

September 30  Tues  Swell - 31º A.M. warm P.M. I fed 33 - 128 - Grace + I got wood + veg. from garden. Ground some for relish. Ray busy putting furnace back together. Joanne at school.

October 1  Wed.  Rain all day. Clear P.M. I fed 32-128. Made 17 jars pickle - Hot dog relish - Helped Ray put furnace together + have fire in it. Nice - 38º P.M. Picked over clothes for rumage [sic] sale Fri.

October 2  Thur  26º A+36P.M. Took clothes to church - fed 32-130 - Took Ray’s lunch to him - Hemmed my coat I got in Boston in Feb. T.V. - I like my work much better this year. Still no teachers eat at small school. [Above the word “teachers” is written “50¢”. Could this mean that lunch is 50¢?]

October 3  Fri  Swell - 30ºs A+P.M. nice in day. I fed 34-123 - Fall[s] + shopped. Got gifts for Edie Spooner. Charles birthday + Grace + I took his gifts up also watermellon [sic]. Son Home.

October 4  Sat  Swell + warm. Washed + dry. Made mince meat. Son + Jo here for supper + P.M. Son gone hunting with Alvin + Jo up to Alvin’s. We watched T.V.

October 5  Sun  Rain off + on. quite cold + windy. 30º P.M. Ines + Nile + Kathy over all day - So no church. Took wedding gifts to church for Edie + picked apples for Ines. Got Grace + had ride over by old ladies. Son over P.M. Pitchers moved today.

October 6  Mon  Swell - 24º A + 32º P.M. I fed 35-135. To Falls to Bank + Ray, Grace + I picked apples + I rested - T.V. P.M. Joanne called + was coming up but didn’t. Ray just left to work.

October 7  Tues  11:30 + Rod + Dot campbell just left. Never again will we hire him. I fed 34 - 135 - picked apples for May + Boy Im tired tonite - God Bless Son + all.

October 8  Wed  Nice + warm + I fed 36 - 133 - Ray fixed back porch - Nice. Storm door on. We all to May’s + I cut Hans’ hair + took eggs + Made pies - took one to Joanne.

October 9  Thur  Swell - Hot + clear. I fed 35-134. To Falls after + traded at New A+P store on Ackinson [Atkinson] St. opened yesterday. T.V. P.M. + Grace + I took a walk + talked awhile on porch. She put up storm windows + cleaned for me. Ray fixed kitchen door on bottom.

October 10  Fri  Hot all day. Very windy + cooler P.M. I fed 35-137 - Grace + Bula to Spfld to see Aunt K. I cleaned hen house. put things on porch. Ray painted it. Nice. Took stuff cellar. Jo + Son here P.M. played cards - fun. lights out.

October 11  Sat  Very windy. Cold P.M. washed + dry. Grace + I picked more apples. Son + Jo here for supper + we went to Drive in after. Ray stayed home. Son gone hunting now.

October 12  Sun  Quite cold - Windy. 28º P.M. furnace going - Nice. Jo + Son here dinner + supper - He hunted most of day. We took nice ride + saw leaves - beautiful - Bula out of water - Washed head here.

October 13  Mon  20º A + 25º P.M.  Nice in day. Grace ironed. I helped Crockers get apples for church - Ann, Ray here for supper + played cards til 10 - Watched T.V. too.

October 14  Tues  Swell but cold A.M. 18º I had permanent at Donna Ames in Charlestown + to B.F. + helped pick up apples with Crockers for Halloween Party cider. Grange + I’m out of office - Ma still Pamona.

October 15  Wed  Cloudy but nice. Took trip to Rutland + saw Ma’s neices [sic] - came home by White River + Lebanon. Moved clothes up stairs - Ray had hay fever but better P.M. guess house smells.

October 16  Thur  Nice + warm. 75º  Ray much better. Falls A.M. Grace cleaned front room + porch. We put on all storm windows - I painted screen on porch. Gas tanks put in back. Ray hauled wood. I hate to have Grace go.

October 17  Fri  Swell - 70º some - Grace + I to Spfld to rummage sale - Frances + Kids came + took Grace back. I did so hate to see her go. I finished screen + fixed cubbard doors. Son + Jo up P.M.

October 18  Sat  Swell - 70º but 28º P.M. + cold. Son + Jo here all day. He hunted with Bob + Chas. Jo made Wendy doll dress. T.V. tube out so went for new one. Jo + I to Super Duper + got shoe lace.

October 19  Sun  Cool - 32º P.M. clear. Church A.M. Layman’s had service. Ken Bascom, Rhodes + Marx. Jo played. Went to Bula’s after dinner - Louise, Babe + family + Joe there. Aunt G+A. came. Had good visit - Son got coon at Gowens. Im tired.

October 20  Mon  Swell but cold A+P.M. 30º. I fed 35-129 - Got turnips, carrots + cabbage from garden. Folded clothes, made cake  Jumper came that Grace sent for me. Grey. Nice.

October 21  Tues  Nice - Need Rain. I fed 35-131  Ironed - mended - Bula down for water. letter from Grace - I sure miss her - Maurice Pitcher lost job.

October 22  Wed  Hot + Swell. Hazy P.M. I fed 35-134 - Ray + McGurk to Caldwell Pond + Ray to Auction in Grafton  I washed kitchen window. Helped Ray saw wood. To Mays P.M. Ray took saw there + I after him. Wrote Grace

October 23  Thur.  Rain all day. Thanks Father. Muggy too - I fed 37-127 - Made donuts + cookies after school Charles came for water + Visited - He is such a nice boy. So much like Sonny - Mended P.M.

October 24  Fri  Cloudy + showers. Cooler P.M. I fed 35-129 - Falls after + washed P.M. moped kitchen - Chas for water + we all went to Sonny’s + watched Brooks shack burn.

October 25  Sat  Rain most of day. I cleaned all day + took bath + cleaned up + rested - Aunt G+A came + we all to Turkey supper. Jo + Son too. They to Keene - Aunt G. fell down cellar stairs last P.M. God bless her.

October 26  Sun  Rain most of day.  Church + had dinner with out Son + Jo. They here for supper. He + I dug turnips. Ray bot plainer for 50. from John Campbell.

October 27  Mon  Rain - 42º P.M. I fed 35-127 - Had my hair done at Janet Buss’. Mr. Taylor came + looked over work to be done to close chimney. Wrote Mil. Called Edna, Aunt G. some better.

October 28  Tues  Rain but clearing + colder P.M. I fed 35-130 - Ma + I had it out about Clyde - I caught her taking food + giving to him - I’m just tired of it all.

October 29  Wed  Rain - cold P.M. 35º - I fed 36-126. To Aunt G. P.M. and she is much better - still very sore but on gain. Father I need the [thee] every hour - thy strength + understanding

October 30  Thur  Swell - Sun. but 35º + windy P.M. I fed 34-133 - Mr Taylor closed in chimney down stairs - nice. Ma + I to Walpole + Falls. Dr. Tatem says there is sugar in Ma’s urine.

October 31  Fri  Cloudy - warmer P.M. 50º Son + Jo just left - had cidar [sic]. So good to see them. I fed 34-132 - Mr Taylor started fixing up stairs - looks so good. Thanks

November 1  Sat  Swell but windy. Cold P.M. 25º. I cleaned stove, + waxed front room. fixed floor upstairs. Son + Jo here P.M. played cards + watched T.V. Ray came home 2:30a.m.

November 2  Sun  Cool - hair P.M. No church - Sam, Ruth + Vic here for day - Son + Jo too. Mr. Taylor found dead today - he will never finish upstairs now. We surely did like him + his work.

November 3  Mon.  Snow + hail - 2” here. 27º P.M. I fed 28-115 - Ironed, baked 4 squash pies, made donuts - Ray just left for work - 11 P.M. now. Mr Taylor funeral Tues. 2 at church - He’ll be missed

November 4  Tues  Nice - Coal going in furnace. 2 tons coal came yesterday. I fed 32-125 - Ray + I to Mr. Taylor’s funeral - up to E. Alstead. Sad. May, Hans + Beth Carman too. Cut Earl’s hair P.M.  33º

November 5  Wed  Swell + warm. 40º P.M. I fed 31-126. Bot Joanne home for supper. Wendy too. Up to Spfld to see Aunt G. PM. she’s much better And planning to leave next Wed. Thy will be done

November 6  Thur  Swell - 34º Cool - Windy. I fed 31-129 Falls for gro + paid bills. To Bula’s for eggs + to comm. meet at church - 4 men + I - wrote an aguement [sic] for Grange + church. Went to Mr Taylor’s + saw Mr LaClair.

November 7  Fri  Swell all day. 24º P.M. I fed 31-116. No leaves raked - windy. To May’s P.M. gave her a Toni - cut Hans hair. Ray took drain pipe from bath tub + can’t find another. Thanks Father for all.

November 8  Sat  Swell - 24ºA But 40º P.M. To Keene AM + ordered bath tub + lavatory - $180. To Dr. After with Ma + she’s on sugar free diet. Blood 260 - should be 130. Son + Joanne up P.M. Ray working from 3-11 - Mr Spooner borrowed saw rig.

November 9  Sun  Rain all day. No church - to Ann’s for dinner and a lovely one too - turkey + all the fixings - Buddy is thin but better - had double pneumonia - Son + Jo too + they just left. Bless them.

November 10  Mon  Rain most all day. I fed 34-123 Ray lowered Ma’s door + now it closes. Son came in tonite + had his supper. Thy love ever guarding + guiding he + Jo.

November 11  Tues  Clear - 35º - I fed 34-131 - Son painted ceilings in front room + kitchen and they look swell. Grange P.M. I ordered Xmas cards + stationary for Joanne.

November 12  Wed  Swell + clear - 32º P.M. I fed 33  124 - I ordered paper for back of Kitchen stool - Ray almost finished painting front room. Mr. Spooner had eye taken out 11th.

November 13  Thur  Swell all day. 36ºP.M.I fed 33-120 - Got Wendy from school + to B.F. - got paper for front room + gro. To Herbies, Bula’s + May’s P.M. Paul just called - so good to hear them.

November 14  Fri  Cloudy + some rain. Warm 47ºP.M. I fed 35-124 - frosted cake for Wood’s 40^th anniversary. Finished Vanitian [sic] blinds + tore paper from wall - its all cracked - what a mess.

November 15  Sat  Rain all day. Washed, baked + patched wall in front room by pasting cloth over holes. Joanne + Son up P.M. he worked at Gowen’s - has 13 blisters.

November 16  Sun  Rain + cloudy. No church - Nile + Ines here for dinner, also Son + Joanne. Gave us box candy - Bless them. Son bought 2 new tires $47.50. he got tractor from Spooner’s. God Bless every one + forgive me.

November 17  Mon  Cloudy - cool - 44ºP.M. I fed 35-123 - got cards at Edney’s for Ma. Ironed P.M. bathtub + sink came - Ray all worked up over them. God Bless him.

November 18  Tues  Cloudy + warm - 50º I fed 35-131 Ray tore pipes all apart + taking all down cellar. I started papering front room. Letter from Grace, she’s working 3-½ days.

November 19  Wed  Clear + windy - 46º-I fed 35-130. Ray had hard time with water pipes - but did it finally - have bath tub + sink out of bathroom. I wrote Grace + Helen P.M. Thanks Father alls well.

November 20  Thur  Cold P.M. clear. I fed 35-131 - Turkey dinner - To Falls after + I Xmas shopped for Nile’s grand kids. Went to Sutton + helped Gordon install 3 Granges P.M. Wilmot, Kearsarge + Sutton.

November 21  Fri  34ºP.M. windy - I fed 34-127 - Washed + cleaned up after Ray. He is fixing wall in bathroom - looks good. I fixed some in kitchen - sure still a mess. Thanks for completion.

November 22  Sat  cold P.M. 22º - Nice in day. I half did papering in front room. washed head, cooked. Go + Son up P.M. he worked today at Gowen’s. Had flat tire. He + Jo to Movies. our T.V. all gray.

November 23  Sun  Swell - 18ºA+36ºP.M. To Henniker + church there. Ines joined A.M. Had spaghetti dinner at Nina’s. Wendy too. Wrote Aunt G. + Vivian Searcy P.M. put cloth on stair wall.

November 24  Mon Cloudy all day - Snow little P.M. I fed 35-131 - Took Ma to Dr. + he gave her insulin tablets to take - P.T.A. P.M. + I went. Mr. Kibbee Vice President. Good meet 36 there

November 25  Tues  22ºA+ 18ºP.M. I fed 36-127 - Ma + I to Charlestown P.M. to Grange + 6 granges were installed - State Master Clements installed Ma for 28º time - I sat with Hans. Ray has tub in. 12:45

November 26  Wed  30ºA + 36ºP.M. rain + snow all day. I fed 35-135. School out at 1 - I papered until 9:15 - Ray got water running to tub - Swell. Our T.V. on blink so listen to Radio

November 27  Thur  Windy 25ºA+18ºP.M. cold. Had chicken dinner here, Ma, Ray + I. Ray got shower done + I got papering done. Looks so nice. Went by Drewsville + saw Monosky house that burned. Got milk + to Bula’s for eggs. Fred Carman bull dozing X road.

November 28  Fri  18ºA+32ºP.M. rain hard - did snow. 3”  Ray, Ma + I to Falls A.M. got gro. Turkey too also tile for bathroom wall - yellow. I made 4 pies P.M. Alice called - she + Paul can’t come as boss still sick.

November 29  Sat  Cold - 20ºA+16ºP.M. clear, windy + snow P.M. blizzard like. Washed - Son here to dinner. Ray + I to Alumni basket ball game - Son played + won. 49-41 -H.S. girls won. Cold P.M.

November 30  Sun  Wicked cold last P.M. 9º+wind - 5ºP.M. but no wind - cold - Had wonderful Thanksgiving dinner - Bula, Margaret, Charles, Hans, May, Joanne Sonny. Ma, Ray + I. Played bean bag + cards. T.V. too  Thanks Father for all.

December 1  Mon  5ºA + 16º P.M. cloudy all day. did not go to Dublin. I fed 37-130. Put window in hen house + sorted apples - T.V. Ray put snow tires on car. Paid taxes. Fire to E. Alstead - Craigs.

December 2  Tues  Clear + nice - 15º A+P.M. I fed 35-135 - Ray put banking on - worked on bathroom too. I went to Estabrook’s to borrow army clothes - too small. Saw Ester + baby walks.

December 3  Wed  15ºA+22P.M. cloudy. little snow. I fed 36-132 - Ray got all around tub + West end of bathroom - looks good. He sawed wood. I gave soldier monologue at Pamona Grange. B.F. + got gro.

December 4  Thur  20ºA+32ºP.M. 6” fresh snow. I got stuck on hill + Harry Gowen stood on back of car. I fed 38-138 - Ray worked on bathroom + hunted - I mended P.M. + T.V. Ma’s urine showing blue for last 3 days

December 5  Fri  32ºA+36ºP.M. rain since 2 - I fed 34-136 - Took shower in new tub - Swell. Ray painted cuting [?] + wood work in bathroom. Gonna look nice. Washed head - I’d liked to have gone to game.

December 6  Sat  24ºA + 15ºP.M. windy. Washed + got in but stiff. Son hunted all day no luck. Chas got his first. Son, Joanne + us to May’s for spaghetti supper, swell - good not to cook.

December 7 Sun  12ºA+10P.M. Windy + cold. Son, Ray + 2 from Oats Co. hunted A + Son all P.M. No luck. Joanne, Laurie, + family here all day. Windy + family over P.M. I’m tired - I slid on sled cross pond in orchard.

December 8  Mon  15ºA + 20º P.M. snowing. I fed 34-129 - To Falls after + got bathroom paper + Walpole for Ma’s Medicine - wrote Reta - T.V. on blink again. ??? Ray gotta go to work.

December 9  Tues  18ºA+12 P.M. snow showers all day. I fed 34-134 - Ray + I to Charlestown to BB game. Vilas lost 56-45 - Charles played good - Bula went with us. Good to go out.

December 10  Wed  -5º below 0º A + 4º below 0º P.M. cold. But nice in house. I fed 35-135 - Ironed + watched fight on T.V. Archie Moore beat Evon Durell. Good fight. Ray got more done in bathroom. Nice.

December 11  Thur  - 12º below A + 10º above P.M. I fed 39-135 - Falls after + Xmas shopped. Got Grace gifts ready to go. Ray did good job on wall behind stove + some more in bathroom. Wrapped gifts P.M.

December 12  Fri  4º below A + 10º above P.M. clear. I fed 34-134 - Son here to supper - God Bless him. he didn’t have to stand inspection Sat - Ray made outside cellar door. I wrote cards + letters P.M.

December 13  Sat  10º AM + 6º P.M. cold all day. Son up 6AM to get Jeep to hunt at Alvin’s - no luck - Washed, patched bathroom wall. Son + Joanne up. P.M. almost got sewing machine for her over radio

December 14  Sun  4º below A + 17º above P.M. All went hunting - no luck - Saw 2 + shot but missed  Joanne, Ma, Wendy + I to church - Seemed so good. Francis Pelton here to dinner. Son + Joanne too -

December 15  Mon  18ºAM + snowed all day. 4º P.M. + cold  Don plowed our yard + I shoveled. l fed 32-135 - addressed Xmas cards P.M. Ray fixed break on Chevy. Thanks Father for all our blessings.

December 16  Tues 8ºA + 6ºPM - fed 35-134 - Took Betty to Andy’s grave but couldn’t find it under snow.  Ray put more in bathroom. I fixed Xmas cards + helped him - Mil-moved in Cal.

December 17  Wed  8ºA + 16º P.M. I fed 34-134 - Ray finished over tub - shower rod + all - Henry Ormsby here to supper - he + Ray hunted - Ironed P.M. T.V. good programs. Thanks Father Son is in thy care.

December 18  Thur  18ºA + 20º P.M. nice all day. I fed 41-141. Falls + Xmas shopped - Got chair for Ray + mixed for Joanne. Son came in at 11:15 P.M. I made fudge for Dan + he waited til Dad came - tris [?] too

December 19  Fri  18ºA + 36º P.M. I fed 38-128. Nice time at school. Son + Ray hunted - no luck. Son + Jo to Troy to BB game. I made donuts + cleaned bathroom. Made wreath.

December 20  Sat  10ºA+0ºP.M. cold. Son, Francis, Red, Roger Pelton, Walter Sporel, Alvin Clark +Charles all hunted, here for dinner - no deer. Ray + I to Quaker Oats Xmas banquet P.M. Nice.

December 21  Sun  12º below 0ºA+5º below P.M. cold all day. Ray, Bob Montague + Larry hunted all day. No luck. Season ended today. Son + Jo to Mass. to Xmas at Louise’s. I decorated tree + put lights in windows. Thanks Father alls well.

December 22  Mon  14º below 0º A + 16º above P.M. Ma + I to Walpole + Falls - got mixer + Son’s tools for Xmas. Took Betty Monty + Joanne to Cemetery put Wreath on Andee’s grave. Ester been to S.C.

December 23  Tues  36ºA + 30º P.M. - Swell all day. I to Falls + got Ray’s chair - finished papering bathroom - Ray worked more + put up sink to try. Grange P.M. made Xmas trees for people in hospitals - gifts from Grace.

December 24  Wed  20ºA + 2º belowº P.M. Nice in AM but very cold P.M. Had Bula + family Joanne + Son here to supper + Xmas tree after - Such a lot of nice things - called Paul - he + Alice sent plant from florist.

December 25  Thur  - 6º below A + 0º P.M. Ma + I to May’s til - 11:30 Ray came after work for us. Saw Wini + family. Son called + starting back early. Thanks Father.

December 26  Fri  - 8º below A + 7º above P.M. clear + bright as day out. Cleaned + wrote letter from Eunice. Got one from her + Violet. No Son tonite - Ray cut trees down on bank. Buddy + his girl up - Thanks alls well.

December 27  Sat  4ºAM+22ºP.M. Nice all day, I washed + Buddy + his girl got in ditch by fire truck going to Pratts house. Son pulled him out with jeep. Son + Jo here P.M. called Grace + Frances.

December 28  Sun  15ºA + 18º P.M. nice all day. Church A.M. so nice. Jo + Son here to dinner. Ray finished all tile in bathroom - Thanks Father thy will, wisdom, strength, prosperity + protection is all here.

December 29  Mon  13ºA + 28º P.M. nice all day - cloudy - I started cleaning up stairs. touched up paint in bathroom + front room. To Roy Clarks to help choose officers for 1959 for Church - nice.

December 30  Tues  26ºA + 22º P.M. Snowed a little - Comm. meeting at McLain’s A.M. about May + Hans 25^th - Stopped at Joanne’s + tore paper off behind stove + Ray + I fixed wall. Ironed P.M.

December 31  Wed  13ºA + 0º P.M. To Falls + got gro. Took May to RN Johnson’s about a job - Ma to Walpole for medicine. Ray sawed big elm down. Son + Jo here to see Old year out + New Year in.

Memorandum  So much has happened in 1958 and now a whole new year ahead. Thanks Father that thy love will be guiding + protecting us + all all through 1959+60
