Hello, My name is Dean, I am kind of the unofficial web master for the Battle Creek Balsa Bee's. I have been flying R/C planes and helicopters for 26 years now. Over the years I have belonged to the Kirby Road Club,Kalamazoo Thunderbirds,11 Mile Road, and now the Balsa Bee's.

Presently I am flying a , Hirobo Freya,and Raptor 50 V2 helicopter

The Bee's now have two fields from which to fly from one on Battle Creek Gas Company Property and the other one is on D Drive South. The field on the Gas Co. property is my favorite although we may lose it due to a housing development that's going up to the north of our field. We already had to change our assets road from Golden Ave. to 6 1/2 Mile Road. The other field we aqiured from the Calhoun County Road Commission with a lease for 10 years. This is going to be a premiere flying site when it gets finished. The Road Commission went in and leveled it off for us and got us a good start. Since that we have put up a real nice pravillion and a small building to house our tractor for mowing the field. At the last meeting we approved a project to lengthen and angle the runway to help get away from the sun in the evening.

We currently have about 80 paying members and probably only about 1/3 of them fly on a active roll. Great bunch of people to fly with and learn different things about our hobby. So if your thinking about getting into the hobby come on out, we have some real good pilots, and instructors who will help you along.
