Commemorative Garden at Ordway Park
Hampstead, NH

What are the benefits of becoming a member of the Hampstead Garden Club?

Community Pride
For the past 27 years, the Garden Club has been committed to improving our public green space by establishing and maintaining beautification plantings at important civic sites such as the Library, Town Hall, and Ordway Park.

Improve Your Gardening  I. Q.
There are many opportunities to learn new skills, and cultivate your “green thumb.” Professional guests lecture on a variety of interesting horticultural topics, veteran members dispense friendly home-grown advice, our monthly “members-only” newsletter is packed with seasonal growing tips. Members are also welcome to borrow from our extensive collection of garden-related books.

Rewarding Fellowship and Support
Club members share a special bond—a genuine appreciation for the beauty of nature. As a result, new friendships are cultivated in a casual environment that encourages fellow members to nurture and support one another, while working to make our community a more beautiful place.

Exciting and Diverse Programs
Members enjoy guest lecturers, “hands-on” workshops and demonstrations, tours of exclusive private homes and gardens, plus excursions to popular destinations such as the New England Flower Show.

New Hampshire Federation of Garden Clubs Inc. Membership
The club maintains membership in the New Hampshire Federation of Garden Clubs, which recognizes and supports our local endeavors. They also offer a variety of workshops and seminars of horticultural interest. Members also receive the “Lilac Letter,” a quarterly publication detailing statewide events.

Do I have to live in Hampstead to be a member?

No, our current roster includes members from Plaistow, Sandown, Atkinson, Danville and other communities within commuting distance.

What is expected of Garden Club Members?

Club Involvement
Members are expected to attend monthly meetings, usually held the third Wednesday of the month at 7 pm at the Old Meeting House, or other designated venue so marked in Monthly Events at the top of this page. In addition, they serve on one of the Club’s Standing committees (i.e. Program Yearbook, Membership, etc.) and assume hostessing duties at a monthly meeting. Members also participate in the Club’s primary fundraiser—usually a Plant Sale or Garden Walk.

Civic Participation
Members assist in maintaining the Club’s civic beautification sites, chaired by an experienced member. Responsibilities consist of weeding, watering or other duties as designated.

Dues
Membership dues are $10 per calendar year, checks payable to Hampstead Garden Club.

Club Purpose
To encourage an interest in all aspects of gardening, promote civic beauty and the conservation of natural resources.
