Laws of the Game

The harder you work, the "luckier" you get.

1/5/10:   (Boys, Girls & Parents)  We will be having a meeting on Jan. 11th. at 6:00 in the commons to discuss this year's golf tournament, and several other fund raisers that will involve both boys and girls, please attend.   Here is a brief breakdown of agenda for meeting:  6:00pm  Boys season, schedule, concessions, uniforms and money, beginning at 6:30 fund raisers that will involve both boys and girls.   (Girls & girls parents) if you would like to arrive closer to 6:30 that would be ok.

11/21/09:   I Sorry this is so late (Teresa and I went on vacation - just got back in town).  Plus, this always marks the real end of the season, and I hate to see it end, so I am notorious for putting the final posting off as long as possible  This was such a surprising/great group of girls - so young, so inexperienced.  When you lose eight starters to graduation, you expect to have to rebuild.  Well, we did have to rebuild, but wow, much faster than expected.  The girls worked hard and came through with 7 victories - Congratulations Ladies - you have proven to be a team to be reckoned with.

Many thanks to our Senior Captains.  Allison and Ashton have been with the Wildcats for......well, forever.  They have played wherever and whenever they were needed, supported the program and encouraged the young players.  You guys will be greatly missed.

Also, many thanks to our co-captains, Torey Hart and Chassis Harris.  Their enthusiastic play and encouragement of their teammates did much to insure our success.

Your 2009 Award winners:

Defensive Player of the Year:  Torey Hart

10/24/09:   I Congratulations to Elisabeth Adams and Elizabeth Miller for making the All District Team.

10/17/09:   I Hixson  6     Walker Valley  3

Great match Ladies.  Outstanding play by Fatima, Torey, Anna and Melanie.  You out shot them 22 to 10.  Allison made 4 muddy saves in goal.  Elisabeth got 4 goals (wow), Madeline got 1 and Elizabeth got 1.  Assists were by Elizabeth (2) and Fatima. Keep up the good work tonight against Red  Bank - Go Wildcats.

10/14/09:   I First round district match is Saturday night at 7 against Red Bank at Hixson - Go Wildcats!!!

10/13/09:   I Central beats Red Bank 1-0.  We finish third in District.  First round match will be at Hixson, probably Saturday (time to be announced) vs Red Bank.  Congratulations Wildcats!!!  Its been a tough season against teams with a lot more upperclassmen than us, but you hung in there, played as hard as you can, and finished much higher than anyone expected.  Great Work Ladies, very proud of your effort and your results.

10/13/09:   I Boyd  2    Hixson  0

10/13/09:    Hixson  5      Patriots  3

Another victory and a pretty good second half.  We started the match a little slowly, not enough movement/passing/etc.  This gave Coach something to discuss during halftime, and of course, he did.  We did seem to wake up and started playing - 3 second half goals.   Elisabeth scored four, Chassie got one and assists were by Elizabeth (2), Chassie and Madeline.  Fatima had a particularly strong night on defense.  Allison made 8 saves in goal, and Torey even got a save during a very crowded attack in front of our goal.

10/8/09:    The game today against Sequatchie County has been cancelled.  They are on Fall Break and can not get a full team together to play.   The match is a forfeit.   No Practice today, practice tomorrow at 5.

10/6/09:   I Red Bank  2    Hixson  0

10/5/09:   I Hixson  3   East Ridge  2

If you were not at Redoubt tonight, you missed a really exciting match.  Number of shots were just about even, Allison had to make 8 saves in goal and Torey scored!  Hard fought first half ended tied 1-1 after Elisabeth put us ahead in the first minute.  The second half started strong with Coach moving some people into new positions to address East Ridge's strengths.  This seemed to pay off as we jumped out to a 3-1 lead on goals by Elizabeth (assisted by Chassie) and Torey (assisted by Elizabeth).  East Ridge continued their spirited play and got their last goal with 13 minutes remaining in the match.  Lots of good play against a good opponent.  Fatima, Kate, Kristina, Ashton and Melanie all made crucial plays contributing to our victory.  Great match Ladies!!!!

10/5/09:     The game today against East Ridge has been moved to Redoubt, field #8 at 7:00, all the fields at Camp Jordan are still closed.   Everyone needs to be at Redoubt by 6:15.   Coach Dean will be leaving Hixson around 5:45, if anyone needs a ride let him know.

10/1/09:   I Hixson  7   Rhea Co  1

OK, I admit I was a little nervous at halftime, only up by one goal and Rhea Co was definitely not giving up.  But WOW, great second half Ladies.  Great hustle, good attacks, we even had a couple of passes to our own teammates.  Very nice !!  Elizabeth had a career night with 3 goals and 2 assists.  And what about Anna?  Two goals and steady play the whole night??  Got to be the shoes!!!  And Chassie was in the right place to insure her goal went in.  And Elisabeth's break away, long run, and perfect finish.......  Can not neglect the defense, Allison with 4 saves (one really pretty diving touch save in the second half), and Kristina, Kate, Fatima and Torey.  Everyone played well.  Congratulations Hixson.

9/29/09:   I EHHS  6   Hixson  0

9/24/09:   I Hixson  5   Central  0

MUCH better.  Nice game on Defense - Fatima, Torey, Kate, Ashton, Kristina and Allison - good job ladies.  Shutouts are always good.  The offense came to life in the second half - 5 goals by four different players  (Anna, Elisabeth, Chassie, and two by Elizabeth - great work!).  Oh yeah, Elizabeth also got two assists.  You earned your days off, enjoy......

9/22/09:   I The game tomorrow at East Ridge (Camp Jordan) has been cancelled due to flooding, we will have practice at 5:00.  The game has been rescheduled for Monday Oct. 5th. at 7:00 at Camp Jordan.

9/16/09:   I Signal Mt  8    Hixson  0

9/10/09:   I Hixson  2  Grace  1

Zero to zero at halftime of a well played match.  At about 14 minutes into the second half, Elisabeth flicked a header towards the goal and Rachel was there to push it in.  Seven minutes later Elizabeth scored unassisted on a long kick that crawled over the goalie's jump and hands.  Grace never gave up and came back to score two minutes later on a wild group of kicks and rebounds in front of our goal.  Lots of good play tonight:  Tory and Melanie at sweeper(s), Chassie in the middle, Kristina and Madeline on defense, Kate got a lot of time and made 9 stops - All the girls played well!!!!   Allison recorded 5 saves in goal.    Shots were even for the night at 13 apiece.

9/8/09:   I Silverdale   6      Hixson   1

A  2-1 deficit at half time to one of the better teams in town is not bad at all.  Sure we started to wear down during the second half, but; all-in-all, not a bad performance from our youngsters.  Tory is starting to show real promise at sweeper, Elizabeth scored what has to be one of the quickest goals ever at 30 seconds into the match, and Allison had 11 saves out of 29 shots against her.

9/4/09:   I Bradley Central   5      Hixson   0

Still a lot to learn and a difficult schedule before us, but a quality group of girls who seem to really enjoy the game.

9/1/09:   I CSAS   4      Hixson   1

With almost half of their team being Seniors and Juniors, CSAS brought an experienced group of girls to Hixson tonight.  Elizabeth scored in the second half, adding a goal to her season's three assists.  Allison had 13 saves out of 17 shots on goal and 28 total shots by CSAS.  Lots of work by the defense from Elisabeth, Fatima, Whitney, Kristina and Tory (at sweeper).  Chassie had her usual 105% effort.  The team keeps getting better, but the opponents do also.  Stay strong, Go Wildcats!!

8/28/09:   I Lincoln Co   2   Hixson   1

Loooooong trip to Lincoln County, further lengthened by thunder delays caused a late start and a finish in the dark.  Only the second match of the season, and our young girls are still finding their game; but there are bright spots emerging.  First, we scored again on another set-piece by Elizabeth and Elisabeth.  Second, we held them scoreless in the first half and weathered many attacks.  Third, Allison registered 12 saves (several sliding saves into heavy traffic), and gave up only two goals in the face of 27 shots.  Fourth, Chassie continues to maintain a high work-rate.  And, Coach modified the line up during the second half and got added control at midfield from Elisabeth, and a strong performance at sweeper from Torey.

We still have work to do, but I have confidence that this team has real potential.   The schedule is not easy, but as our skills improve, as we become more familiar with our new team mates, and as we gain match experience; this is a team that can finish the season very strong and should be a contender at tournament time.

8/25/09:   I Sweetwater   3   Hixson   2

We got off to a rather slow start against an aggressive team with a vocal group of fans.  May have let the environment get to us a little in the first half.  Sweetwater started strong and pushed the run of play during the first half.  They outshot us, but strong play by Allison in goal and Elisabeth at stopper turned back all attacks, but one.  The half ended 1-0 in Sweetwater's favor.

We settled down during the second half and played much better.  Elisabeth tied the score off of a free kick from Elizabeth (its really not as confusing as it seems - ones a S, ones a Z).  Sweetwater went ahead 2-1 before we could score again (this time Chassie off a corner by Elizabeth).  Match went back and forth until Sweetwater snuck in the final score.

All in all, not a terrible first match for such a young team.  Great to score off of set-pieces.  Keep at it girls, I feel you will surprise several teams before this season is over, and will be a team to be reckoned with by tournament time.

8/23/09:   I Playday went great!   Thank You to all the parents who worked so hard.  It was a long day, but beautiful weather and great matches.  Our girls played really well ( 2 wins, a tie and a loss); and that from a young team (12 freshmen and sophomores).  Knew it was a rebuilding year ( after losing 8 starters), but I was very pleasantly surprised to see the high level of play and desire this group is already capable of.  Congratulations ladies for the hard work and the results.  Click here for a few snapshots.

8/10/09:   I Boys News:  Congratulations to Hector Alvarez for being named ALL-STATE by the Tn Soccer coaches.

7/8/09:   I 2009 schedule is posted (click on link at left).  Also, we will be one of the hosting Playday sites this year.  This will require a great deal of help from the parents and players, as this will be an all day event.  Lastly, this is the first year of the new TSSAA sports classifications.   Click here for the listing of who is in our new district (6) and region (3).

7/2/09:   I I would like to welcome Coach Megan Rybolt back to the Hixson soccer family.  Coach Rybolt  began playing soccer at a very young age and played at Hixson Middle and Hixson High School, where I had the privilege of watching her play.  During her high school career Megan racked up some very impressive stats and received numerous awards along with making the all-county team.  Coach Rybolt is currently an algebra teacher at Hixson High School and is extremely excited about the opportunity to help coach where she played.

6/10/09:   Voluntary conditioning will begin today June 17 and will run through this Friday June 19 - times will be 5:00 to 6:00.   The weeks of June 22 & 29 are dead weeks and coaches cannot have any contact with players.   Voluntary conditioning will start back up on July 6 at 5:00 and will run through July 17th.   Mandatory conditioning begins on July 20 .

The next parents meeting will be July 28 at 6:30.

3/4/09:     The University of Tennessee Alumni Association  held their Sixth annual High School Honors Dinner at the Chattanooga Choo Choo.  This event honors Hamilton County's academic leaders of the class of 2010.  Two of our junior class team mates were invited.  Congratulations to Allison and Coretta on their achievements and this recognition.

11/12/08:     Thanks to everyone who helped to make 2008 such a great season.  The players, coaches, parents and fans - we are all proud of what the Hixson Lady Wildcats accomplished.  11-5-1   The Team banquet was held Monday 11/12/08 at East Daisy Church of God.  Awards  presented were:

Rookie of the Year:    Torey Hart

Coaches Award:    Courtney Miller

Best Offense:    Rebecca Kent
