Shots:   Shots taken at the goal, but they are not “on-frame”.  That is, even if an opponent had not stopped the shot, it still would not have gone into the net.

SOG:   Shots On Goal.  These are shots that would have been scores, if an opponent had not stopped them.  These are “on-frame”/in the net.  Score each shot only once, it can be a Shot, or a SOG; but not both.

 Stops:  These are made by any player on the field (but usually a defense/midfielder/goalie) who Stops the flow of the opponent towards our goal and reverses the control of the ball to our team.  This must be done by an active confrontation of the opposition, and not merely by running up on a loose ball.  These are rewarded for slightly above normal Stops.  These are not “standard” statistics, but are included here to attempt to give credit for defensive work.

 G:  Goal. 

A:  Assist – a pass that directly leads to a goal by the team mate receiving the pass.

F:   Fouls committed

Saves:  Stops by our goalie (or in rare cases by field players back assisting the goalie) that would have resulted in a goal, if they had not stopped the shot.  These are stops of SOGs, not stops of SHOTs (see definitions above).  We are including stops of shots in the STOPS category for the goalie.
