James Myles Chapman was born 16 September 1922 in Waycross, Ware Co., GA to Green Franklin Chapman and Eula Estelle Harris. He married Carol Faye Morgan on 1 June 1946 in Wenatchee, WA. Carol was born 30 November 1927 in Wenatchee, WA to Andrew Corbley Morgan and Georgia Bernice Warren. James and Carol had four children. Mike, David, Mark, and James Myles Jr.

James graduated as an aeronautical engineer from Georgia Institute of Technology in three years as was common in the war years. He entered into the Navy after graduation and ultimately became a Lt. Commander. He was the main commander of a submarine chaser during WWII. After the war he worked for the Atlantic Coast Line (ACL) railroad and he owned a tombstone business.

Carol married James in June of 1946. She was in Seattle studying to become a nurse, and met Jim while he was on leave from the Navy at the end of World War II. She moved to Waycross, GA, Jim's home town, and they started a family, ultimately having four boys. In 1961 she moved with her children to Wenatchee where she earned a degree and became a High School English teacher. She taught at Cashmere High School for 25 years; she was the head of the drama department and annually put on plays that were well received by all. She married Leonard Loudon in 1974 and they spent 28 wonderful years together. In recent years, Carol and Leonard enjoyed hiking, traveling, the making of jewelry and dolls, collecting and polishing rocks, and playing bridge. She was an avid reader her whole life. She made many friends abroad, and several came and lived with her briefly. She always had pets, which she treated as family members of the highest standings. She and Leonard were founding members and actively involved with the Cancer Care of NCW (Our House) in Wenatchee.

James Myles Chapman died on 2 September 1978 in Ware Co., GA and Carol died 10 June 2003. James is buried in the Oakland Cemetery, Waycross, GA.  Carol was cremated in Wenatchee, WA and a photo tribute was given at the memorial. Leonard remains an incredible step-father to her children.
