He was granted 100 acres in Camden Co in 1854.  Found in "EarlyGeorgia Marriages, Maddox" and Judge Huxford's notes.  Also, 1870 GA census for Charlton Co.  Shown as a 45 year old farmer.  Neither he nor his wife could read or write.  Their land holdings were valued at $1000 as was their personal property in the 1870 census held 23 Jul 1870 (M593, roll 140, p.328, Greenville Co., SC Library).  He is on Hamilton Co. Florida tax rolls for 1875-1877 for 124 acres.  Shown as a 55 yr old farmer in Hamilton Co., FL 1880 census.  Same children.

Margaret IVEY was born ¹ 1828 in Camden Co., GA. She married Andrew McClellan JOHNS on 12 Feb 1846 in Camden Co., GA.

Jeremiah H. JOHNS [Parents] was born ¹ 4 Jan 1798 in Beaufort Dist., SC. He died ² 5 Mar 1879 in Brantley Co., GA (formerly Wayne) and was buried ³ in Bachlott Cem., Brantley Co., GA. Jeremiah married Mary Ann MCCLELLAN on 14 Oct 1824 in Wayne Co., GA.

All the children in this family were born in Georgia - an area that is now Brantley County. The 1880 census curiously shows that George Washington and Paul Columbus Johns were born in South Carolina.

Jeremiah H. Johns was Justice of the Peace of the 509th District from 1825 through 1830. He and his family lived in Camden Co., GA prior to 1825, settling on lands south of the Satilla River. This became Charleton Co. in 1854 and is now Brantley Co. At his death, his death, his estate included 350 cattle and four lots of land, nos.78,79,143, and 115 in the 2nd District of old Wayne and other property. He was an active member of the High Bluff Baptist Church where the record shows that he attended the 1820 meeting of the Piedmont Baptist Association.

He is listed in Charlton County in 1870 Census living with son, Paul Columbus Johns and his wife George Anna. He and his wife are buried in the Bashlott Cemetery in Brantley County, Georgia.

Jeremiah H. Johns was the son of Jeremiah and Levicy Johns, and the grandson of Jacob and Patience Johns.

The elder Jeremiah Johns was born in Beaufort County, South Carolina in 1768. He and Levicy had five sons: George (b.1787), Silas (b.1796), Jeremiah H., William (b.1800), and James J.(b.1810).

Jacob Johns was born in Charleston County, South Carolina before 1840. He and Patience had nine children: Isaac (b.1760), John T. (b.1865), Jeremiah (b.1768), Levi (b.1770), William W. (b.1773), Cornelish (b.1780), Mary (b.1782), Sarah (1784), and Elizabeth (b.1786). Jacob died in 1817 at the age of 77.

Mary Ann MCCLELLAN [Parents] ¹ was born ² 26 Apr 1807 in Wayne Co., GA. She died ³ 15 Jul 1862 in Brantley Co., GA (formerly Wayne) and was buried ⁴ in Bachlott Cem., Brantley Co., GA. Mary married Jeremiah H. JOHNS on 14 Oct 1824 in Wayne Co., GA.

Mary Ann McClellan was the first of five children born to Andrew McClellan and Sarah Edwards. The inscription on her tombstone reads, "On the earth no longer she desired to stay, and God in his mercy called her away." She and her husband are buried in the Bashlott Cemetery in Brantley County, Georgia.

Andrew McClellan, father of Mary Ann McClellan, was born in South Carolina in 1774. He and Sarah Edwards were married in South Carolina on October 9, 1800. They moved shortly thereafter to Georgia where they raised their family. Andrew died in May of 1848.

Sarah Edwards, mother of Mary Ann McClellan, was born in 1776 in Abbeville County, South Carolina, the daughter of Andrew Edwards and Phoebe Meadows. Sarah died July 1, 1826. Andrew McClellan and Sarah Edwards had these five children: Mary Ann (b.1807), Elizabeth Margarette (b.1810), Sarah E. (b.1816), Ann Catherine (b.1822), and Bathsheba (b.1826).

Andrew Edwards, father of Sarah Edwards, was born in 1752, the son of Thomas Edwards, Jr. and Elizabeth Nicholas. He married Phoebe Meadows in 1774. They had these eight children: Mary (b.1775), Sarah (b.1776), James (b.1777), Little Berry (b.1779), Bettie (b.1785), Andrew Jr. (b.1782), and John (b.1787).

Thomas Edwards, Jr., father of Andrew Edwards, was born in 1723. He and his wife, Elizabeth Nicholas, had these five children: Robert (b.1743), Thomas (b.1747), Andrew (b.1752), Sarah (b.1750), and William (b. 1745).

Thomas Edwards, Sr., father of Thomas Edwards, Jr., was born in Wales in 1690. He married Elizabeth Downing in England in 1714. They had these five children: Robert (b. 1716), Thomas (b.1723), Frankey Martha (b.1727), John (b.1725), and William (b.1720).

Wm. F. Johns enlisted 15 Aug 1861 in Co. F, 26 Ga. Inf., and was elected 3rd Corporal.  He was wounded at Second Manassas on 30 August 1862. He was reduced to Private in 1864 when merged with a different company.  He was killed at Drewry's Bluff, VA on 16 May 1864.
