William testifies that Richard Goffe made the statement that hewas the Wilkenson's servant while he was at Mr. Richard Platt's. Witnesses were: William Farr and Jonathan Farrar. The argument was whether Goffe was an indentured servant, a slave, or a free man. John Pleasant, age abt. 30, made the statement that he had a servant of Mr. Jas. Biss named Richard Goffe, who had no indenture.

[Seal] These are to certifie the right Honorable Right worshipfull, and others of the Counsell and Company for this first Southern Colonyof Virginia, that there arrived at Barklay in the same country, for the account of that Society, and the Plantation for the said hundred, upon the 29th of January 1620, these fifty persons underwritten. Visit. Richard Milton is listed among the passengers arriving in Virginia.

Richard Melton was about 18 years old when he arrived in Jamestown, Virginia New World. From the records: A LIST OF SERVANTS REMAINING IN VIRGINIA (John Smyth) August 1, 1662, Richard came to the New World as an indentured servant, and was left in Virginia when the ship the "Supply" left port. After serving his time in service, Richard settled in Westover, on Nov. 19, 1636, purchased 75 acres from Thomas Stagg. On May 16, 1637 he purchased 75 acres more from Stagg. On Oct. 3, 1638 he received 400 acres from a transfer by 8 others.
