Elizabeth Jane Woods, 90, passes away at her home near Mazama, Thursday, November 16, following an illness of approximately two years.  Mrs. Woods came to this state 40 years ago and she and her sons took up a homestead on Foster Creek, between Bridgeport and Mansfield.  She later moved to the Methow Valley and has lived there for 20 years.  She also lived in Brewster four years.

She would have reached her 91st birthday on January 4.  She has been under the care of her daughter Mrs. Rose McDonald, for the past two years.  Her condition gradually became worse during the past several months due ito infirmities of age and her death was expected.

Mrs. Woods was born in Pennsylvania and was married there.  Hers was a large family, there being 10 children born to the union.  She had a big responsibility in raising the children as her husband died shortly after the youngest was born.

Five of the children preceeded Mrs. Woods in death.  Of the five survivng children four live at Mazama and one at Brewster.  Three sons, John, Frank and Charlie, and a daughter Mrs. Rose McDonald, live at Mazama and another son, Edward, lives at Brewster.  There are also several grandchildren and some great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were held at Winthrop Monday afternoon with Ralph B. Kennison in charge of arrangementa and Rev. NcNees officiating.  Mr. Flagg sang "Rock of Ages," and "Abide With Me."

OKANOGAN -- Jay B. McDonald, 68, Okanogan, died Sunday at an Omak hospital.

He was born Sept. 27, 1903, at Dyer Hill, Wash., and lived there before the family moved to Wenatchee where he attended school.  He returned to Okanogan in 1921 and the family returned to Wenatchee again the year of the Malott Flood.  He had also lived in Sunnyside and the Methow Valley before returning to Okanogan.

Mr McDonald was deputy county assessor in Okanogan, retiring in 1970.

Mr. McDonald was a twin brother of the late Ollie McDonald, who died in 1968.

Surviving is a son, Dennis McDonald, Lacey; a sister, Helen Stowell, Everett; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

William Barnes, Okanogan, is in charge of arrangements.

Vivian Pearl HECKMAN [Parents] was born 21 Jul 1909 in Cashmere, WA. She died 2 Jan 2004 in Tacoma, Pierce, WA. Vivian married Jollie (Jay) Byron MCDONALD.
